I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I am going to have to sell my trusty Defender because of an unexpected addition to the family (bitter sweet lol). I genuinely feel sick at the thought of, I’m a grow man for goodness sake!! I’ve so many memories invested in the old girl....Dad woukd always say things happen for a reason! https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/90-300tdi-for-sale.369837/

What things have you sold and then immediately regretted, what did you do then. I’ve got a feeling I’m going regret this to the day I die!! :(
 
This....V6 Essex....chassis was amazing, bodywork told a story :)

Far better condition bodywork wise. There's plenty of other defenders out there and quite a few are better than the one you're selling. If you want you can get another one day

@Landyfox , if it helps...we are all but temporary custodians of our mechanical mistresses whilst we visit this crazy planet. Life's too short to be saddened at losing a car. Our families, especially the children, are far more important.

In this modern day we see/hear/read of people being so over protective of material objects...ultimately, their self-generated first world problems.

There's a great book I share with all, Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman. It takes a few reads before the reader "gets it"...the fact that we arrive with nothing, can't take any of our worldly possessions with us...and long after we're gone we'll all be forgotten ;)

btw, congratulations on the news of baby Landyfox

its just the next logical step
 
Still avoiding taking the final step and listing it anywhere. It’s crazy how much your head can play games with you. It’s not the fact I’m getting rid of the Landy because I will be replacing it with a 110. Rather it’s the fact every-time I look at it or touch I remember my dad and all the happy times we had together tinkering and dreaming up new ideas!

I’m seriously considering just stripping it right back and putting a new galvanised chassis on it so it will eventually pass down to my son who loves it equally as much as I do. But by the time he is able to drive it, god knows what the law on diesels will be.

That would be a logical idea, but we are looking to purchase a local one from someone in the village. It sounds silly, but I have so many memories wrapped up in it, the only way I can imagine not regretting it, is to find an alternative, something I can take to bits and focus on - A bike sounds like a good idea. I also have a little classic mini which I could tinker with. It doesn’t help when my wife keeps saying, don’t feel pressured, you don’t need to sell it - the more she says that, the more I realise I am acting like an idiot not wanting to part with it simply because of memories. Very foolish!
