Hi Tess sorry for your troubles, Did this occur before the air lock in the coolant system or is it a recent hgf? There is usually gunge in coolant expansion tank and same gunge on dipstick for prolonged hgf
As MHM has already suggested new PRT stat is better option. Not sure if warranty cover is obliged to fit new oil rail. That will be itemised in the repair invoice
What will a remote thermostat & electric water punp cost & who sells them?
For the records, one day I could hear slushing in the heater when I revved the engine, undid both bleed scrwes in the coolant hoses & coolant came flowing, the garage did a "block test " all OK. Then on last saturday I topped up the coolant about 1/4 of a litre went for along drive , i noticed slightly lumpy idling & only warm air coming from the heater. On sunday had the same lumpy idling then driving, the temp needle to the red, I stopped the car called the RAC & he put about a gallon of water in & noticed mayo on the dipstick & oil filler cap & presto hey....
I agree with lr about the elec water pump - it is just "belt and braces" - the cost of the pump is fairly small compared to another hgf - so i wud do it.
True. MHM did you ever work out the flow rates for the coolant pump?
Hi LR1796, MHM,
were you guys saying replace the original water pump with EWP?
no - just use the ewp to even out coolant temp and to enable "switch-off" running.
