Just posting here to give homage to all landy v8 owners by saying I always leave the local GTi brigade in my dust at traffic lights.

They think they have better cars than us... the little f**ks.

Please post if you have ever done this, and how great it feels when you make a chav cry

Boomerv8 used to love doing that in his Saab 900 as well, it didn't go bad for a 'grandads car'

Here's a little story for you chaps.

A couple of years back I'm sat at some traffic lights in the Chimaera with the wife, just minding my own business on that glorious summers evening.

Alongside me pulls up some ****box looking Nova saloon. The sort of heap that looked like it should have been scrapped a long time ago.

Kid inside it (looked about 14), tells me that I've got a faggots car. Really? I think, I'll show him.

Lights turn to green, I've got 3500rpm dialed in. I drop the clutch, the Chim squirms a little to the left before digging in and taking off. As i bang it into second the ASBO collector hasn't hardly moved off from the lights. I change into third.

Halfway through third gear, this wreak of a Nova comes screaming past like I'm stood still.

As I pull up at the next set of lights he's having a good chuckle to himself. I ask him "What on earth you got in that kid?". Only a twin turbocharged 3.0 Vauxhall V6, putting out around 450bhp.

Be carefull what you race away from the lights.

125p pickup with twin cam fiat 16v lump v xr3i
or opel monza fun

regularly have fun with dicks at lights in the gti6 they seem intimidated by my boomy straight through system, let them have a little headstart then slam into 2nd, tra tra

dad on tuther hand last yr sat at a set of traffic lights in the rangie had some corsaboy come by the side of him, lights go green, dad smokes him... come to the nxt set of lights 500 yrds down road, lights go green, noise of chavvy exhaust as dweebs gettin annoyed dad smokes him again up to 40 (speed limit at this section) corsa flys off (breaking the speed limit by now with an unmarked on his tail (rofl) dad passes him half mile down road lol

oh did i mention the rangy was towing a cattle trailer at the time

****ER

A new 3.9 manual disco was road tested 0 - 60 at 11 .7 seconds so the GTi's you have seen must be clapped out. No way can a standard 3.9 pass a 'hot hatch' car.
Yer it will cos most chavs cant drive and think lighting the tyres up pulling away is the fastest way, cocks.

Years ago had a MKIII Escort, one of the first 500 1600cc models built, which has a 4-speed box. Towards the end of the time I had it the gearbox gave up the ghost big time, the problem I then had was that you could not get a four speed 1600 box, so the two choices where convert to a 5 speed very big job or drop in a 1300cc four speed, which I did.

However the 1300CC was a lot lower geared the result top speed down to 80mph 0-60 just a shade over 3.5 seconds, as I lived in London at the time use to go Porsche Banker hunting in the City, did they feel like small penises when they lost at the traffic lights to a Escort :)

Anyone who races on the public roads is a bit of a knob. Someone who thinks their 2 ton 4x4 will be great at accelerating obviously doesn't completely understand the laws of physics, either. You can pull up against anything and beat it if you want, but you'll never know if the other driver was even trying, or applying full throttle, or simply "letting you go". Personally I have a Golf GTI and have no need to "race" it on the public roads, having been to countless trackdays and sprints, even picking up 1st place in Class A at Retro Car Show a couple of years ago. Most roads with traffic lights are going to be lower speed limit than 60mph anyway - I can reach 60 in 5.5 secs, by all means I'll let someone steam past me later on if they want to break the law.

Oh, and here's some videos:

I do agree with you, I visit curborough when I can and oulton park... My days of racin are long gone even at my young age, once you've done the clock on a runway speeding don't seem fun no more, besides my license is squeeky clean and aim t keep it that way,My gti6 is a toy for tinkering with on a Sunday not wrapping round a tree lol
had a cock in a Saxo squeeze between my tractor and an oncoming lorry last week..... Inches.... That's not fun that's scary
although I will admit I do surcumb to roadrage if I'm on my own lol

Most member's on here use LR's as their main car's and drive normally, don't tar us all with the same brush:fish:

I know what some people are on about. it is amusing to see a little chavs face when they dissapear behind you from the fraffic lights, especially if they were being cocks and revving their engines... come on weve all done it at some point in our lives. However when I do it I always analyze the road ahead first whilst waiting for the lights If there is people or buisy traffic I won't engage with them but if its clear and in the mood why not. Some people go over board and go to extreme speeds racing from the lights. personally for me the accelleration to the speed limit is the race and NOT beyond although I won't lie I have done it when I was younger.
I know people won't agree and it is an argument that is impossible to win. the fact of the matter is that we shouldn't do it but we all have done at some point.

not just chavs in cars. just before christmas a chav oik on a noisy under powered moped/motorbike type thing tried to pull a wheelie away from the lights and stacked it big style, still makes me smile now. best bit the traffic just went round both sides of him and left him there.

the bit that makes me laugh the most though is that when you talk to these young drivers mainly the lads they go on about how their mate crashed his boy raced up saxo in a field off a country road like its something to boast about and laugh at???

Yeah I lost too many mates when i was younger from own stupidity and idiotic bravery that's what really put me off I know live for the moment and all that but it makes you think what's the point???? I'm like you rooky with the speed limit thing I know my motor will do the clock and more.... I get mega stressed at suits overtaking in a built up 30 zone, it's that for a reason I don't wanna be the one responsible for someones child who didn't know the green cross code, just cos I know what I'm doin dunna mean someone else does.
I'll admit Ill go for a thrape who dunna? But it's only me in my car and only me on the road there's enough factors there to begin with, lol Christ listen to me I'm only 25 rofl
