auto are good just be near brake on hill decents but they pull uphill amazing stick it in d n go low range n itl take u anywhere, good luck with buying one

Sods law, work is taking me away next week, so I'll have put off taking a look, if its gone when I get back it can't have been the one for me

I've used both auto's and manuals off-road, including pay and plays.

I would say the only advantage a manual has over an auto is when you have a V8 that gets wet and miss-fires at an in-oppurtune moment.
With a manual you can just slip the clutch a bit and rev the the engine to get the cylinders firing again, whilst still maintaining forward movement.

I'd add that with a manual you can slip the clutch and get a lot more power quickly, the engine braking can be better adjusted with gearing, whatever power you have is going to the wheels, you're not suddenly going to be bogged down by a wayward gearchange when revs go high, steep ascents and descents are much more controllable, left foot braking is more effective on a manual, it's your option to short-shift, change gear or rev out, you're not relying on a system to do all your work ..... you have a choice ... ;)

You have a choice on autos too, hence the 1 2 3 D options on the selector...

... and short-shifting an auto from 1st to second whilst bouncing about doesn't normally go straight into 3rd or Drive then have to come back again to the gear you want?

Don't matter, I prefer manual, whatever the situation ... though I would like cruise control, good cruise control that is, for getting to and from lanes .. ;)

I agree, for me autos are for road use. I have driven both, and I much prefer the much finer level of control you you have with a manual, plus the shorter gap between ratios that the extra gear gives you often helps. I have never had a situation where I have wished Ihad an auto when driving a manual, but I have sometimes wished for a manual when driving an auto, but only when towing or driving off road.

each to his own ,i much prefer the auto ,the ability to creep and control of torque put to the wheels and not clutching and changing gear all the time id definately try both

Be an odd world if we all liked/wanted the same things .. ;)
