Hi

Am I right in saying that the Td5 double UJ joint on the front prop has no grease nipples or is it just me that's been masturbating to much recently!

Cheers!

This is a reason for which I changed mines(broken) with HD ones , with grease nipple.
The original prop shaft doesn't have a grease nipple thanks to a great engineer or cost cutting!

You can't just fit the greaser in a standard joint, you need new joints with the holes for the nipple and grease circulation.

That's what I thought as the slider bit just had a grub screw that I replaced with a grease nipple but am dammed if I can find any on the double UJ:confused:

was underneath the landy today. Am I right in thinking, seeing that there is one nipple on shaft and one on each joint? couldnt seem to get grease into them (they are them which have a tiny little bit of metal in middle which I guess gets pushed in when grease guned? Also is there anywhere else I need to grease up. The springs? Does anyone have pictures to show me? Bit of a novice I know.

..... that's about it fur a 200tdi;)

Might be an idea tae give the "little bit of metal in the middle" a poke with summit to see if it moves. If it doesn't, then get some new nipples;):D

U-joints with zerk fittings should be lubed about every 8000 kilometers (I lube them every oil change). If not lubed when they should be the grease in them will eventually dry and harden and it will be hard to get them lubed anymore.
So every oil change lube them until you see new grease coming out from around all 4 of the seals on each u-joint.

You'll have to watch the positions of the nipples on reassembly, the front pair need to be 180 degrees opposite, and the rear one should be opposite the sliding sleeve nipple, all to preserve balance.
