so youve just used etch primer? has it lasted no flaking ect. i did wonder if etch primer would be ok,thanks flossyI had mine hot zinc sprayed.
In fact, apart from the chassis and bulkhead more or less everything else was hot zinc sprayed.
If it's been shotblasted correctly (sa2.5 if I remember) with no misses it won't flake off but impacts can chip it.so youve just used etch primer? has it lasted no flaking ect. i did wonder if etch primer would be ok,thanks flossy

hi leepea yeah got the chassis delivered november had to wait 2 or 3 months for it but didnt mind as i was still stripping down.the quality prob aint as good as the other 2 makes but the price was a no brainer so i am well plz with it.iv managed to de grease it this week and t wash it and am just waiten for my etch primer to be delivered so hopefully can start spraying at the week endHi Paulski, i noticed on another thread that you had ordered the chassis from shielder and I was just wondering how it went, delivery quality shape size coating threads etc
Why vinegar? I seem to remember from school chemistry lessons that zinc reacts with vinegar to produce hydrogen. For galvanised stuff I used two companies, one in Nottingham who charged about £170 for a car load of stuff, all receipted and guaranteed, VAT etc - all above board proper job through the front door. Took three weeks.
I then used a firm in stoke on Trent who charged 30 or 40£ cash for half the amount of stuff, can't quite remember, no receipt, dropped off on a pallet, they label it, done two or three days later, picked up on way past.
Stoke place quality was lots better than Notts place. Just getting a pile of stuff together again to go back to stoke. Even if price was the same I'd sooner take it to stoke.
As for painting galv - white vinegar from supermarket, red scotchbrite, damn good scrub, file the sharps off, keep vinegar on it and scrub more if you want over those few days, rinse, dry, 2k primer. Sorted.
