hi, good evening hope some one can help me , i have a 2001 on a y plate 4.0 with the error message on dash saying fuse 2 failure . ive checked and replaced fuse to no avail, so i decided after reading all the posts on here on similar problems, to remove drivers seat and remove top off the becm.this i did and to my horror i could see various states of corrosion on the in and around diff relays and joints, so i sprayed contact cleaner on the board and set about cleaning the said corrosion with a hard toothbrush then i got a hairdryer and dried off the board and sprayed again just to do a final clean ,
i have now plugged all the connectors back into board and started up car but it has made no diff at all, still got fuse 2 failure message and all the other false errors that i had before, anyone got any ideas before i build the car back up ? any help asap would be brill. as car is now blocking drive in this taken apart state and will need to build it back up to move it to let other members of family out with there cars lol

regards jim

thanks datatek for your quick answer,
ive had a look but dont possess any type of magnifying glass ,
however ive took a picture of the offending part of the board not the best one i admit
but im thinking there might be a problem under the big relay you can see in top left of pic that yellow wire is the one leading to fuse 2 , on fuse box

If it were me I would want to remove that relay from the board and check any tracks underneath it, but I have the kit to do that. I would also want to test the relay. PM Irishrover and see what he thinks.

Good call datatek :) Jim is the rest of the board as bad as this part near the relay? i would not like to try repairing that board, id replace with a fresh one. :) was the relay cracked ontop before you opened the lid?

hi datatek, further to my earlier ? regarding swapping top board from another becm do you think this is possible with no worries regarding keycode lockout etc etc

regards jim

hi, just thought id let you's all know i have stripped out old corroded board out of becm and replaced with the top board out of another becm reconnected and hey presto started up and faults all gone , ie windows working , heater fans now working, and fuse 2 failure error message gone from dash,

love it when a plan works lol
