The low pressure pump under the wheelarch on my 2004 TD4 has become more noisy than usual over the last few days. I assume this means it's on it's way out and needs replacing?
Has anyone had any experience of the cheaper none genuine pumps for about £30, or am I wasting my money?

Don't waste your money on cheap pumps, you know the saying buy cheap buy twice, have cleaned or drained out the pot under the fuel & fuel filter tray, this should be done at least 3 times a year. Only buy a pierburg fuel pump.

Thanks Arctic2. I have been draining the sedimenter but I must admit, probably only once a year.
Was Pierburg the manufacturer of the original pump? I've found an OEM Mahle pump and filter for less than half the price of the Pierburg. Is that worth a try?

Thanks for the advice. Have an 800km round trip to do over the next 3 days so hope the old pump lasts out!!
