I just travelled 615KMs between fills in my '99 L Series Diesel and it used 46 liters.
About 550KM of that was open road and of that probably 80% flat, 20% moderate hills. There were 4 adults onboard and a bit of stuff (fishing tackle) in the boot. Speed was kept between 100 and 110KMH - so just over 60MPH. 100KMH is the maximum speed limit here and the rossers hand out tickets like confetti.
The remaining 65KMs was stop/start round town.
46 Litres / (615 KMs / 100) = 7.5 L/100KMs
382 Miles / 10.1 Gallons = 37.8 MPG
I know its supposed to return these figures, but even so, I'm still very pleased with it and hopefully it means the car's in pretty good shape.
This is in 2WD - but its carrying all the original props & VCU - less the crown wheel gear in the IRD. Once again a Kiwi thing so that it gets its warrant (MOT) as a 2WD.
