I'm paying the forum fees but will be cancelling if they don't sort things soon.It seems that the forum administrators don't give a ****. I'm bloody pleased that I don't pay forum fees, because I'd be asking for my money back.
How's about setting up your own forum Ali?
It's fix Ali!!I'm paying the forum fees but will be cancelling if they don't sort things soon.
Sadly running a forum would be way too time consuming for my liking.
Have you seen these guys? Very entertaining and seem to be pretty knowledgable.
If the tin of builders foam filler that was sitting in the corner of the garage had not gone off it would have been used.At least you've had plenty of welding practice Ali.
Cough cough, ahem. Not got the post count but def got the years in and I'm not intending going anywhere anytime soonI can't even see it
Honestly if this forum continues to deteriorate people are going to stop coming here. It is only the likes of yourself and GG, etc (sorry if I didn't mention you but these two are lifers and anyone less than five years is just a blow in. )
that keep me here now.
I had a look at old posts and can't see videos there either FFS.
When I gave mine the really thourough pre-mot blast a couple of months ago I was amazed to discover just how much crud had built up in that very area, in the fold where the skin meets arch. Fortunately I didn't discover too rust as I wouldn't be able to just weld in a pannel like you've done. Top work!Sanded back the worst of the crusty bits and primered. The metal gets very thin as you get nearer the hole

Made a plate to fit and drilled for plug welds

Badly welded and crudely ground back, I only welded a few plug holes near the top as it was blowing through here and would have been much worse lower down.

Sealer at the top, primed and stone chip.

Pretty it ain't but good enough for the girls I go out with.
With the wheel liner back on it won't ever be sen but maybe it adds another 12 months to the life of the car.
None meant.Cough cough, ahem. Not got the post count but def got the years in and I'm not intending going anywhere anytime soon
I think the forum is suffereing a bit as FL1s must be deminishing in numbers fairly steadily now, and alot of people who own them just go on the groups on FB (where the same old repeat questions/subjects far surpass the numbers on here). Hopefully FL2 owner numbers will go up on the forum to keep it going. It certainly seems to be noticeable that there are more and more FL2 threads these days.
Yes there was a load of dirt in the bottom corner. In my case the car has been off the road for several years so it was dry but the rot tells a story. When I gave mine the really thourough pre-mot blast a couple of months ago I was amazed to discover just how much crud had built up in that very area, in the fold where the skin meets arch. To be honest, a cill closure plate does little to the structure of the vehicle, other than keep the muck out the cills.I could have used something like Tiger seal to stick my panel in place and it probably would have been just as good.
I might set one up if I thought it would be useful. This one has been the best for a long time though.I'm paying the forum fees but will be cancelling if they don't sort things soon.

LOL, I'm all for random people giving me money to spend on toys. Bring it on.I might set one up if I thought it would be useful. This one has been the best for a long time though.
I have domain FL1.UK ready to go (no offence to non-UKers).
We could use any advertising revenue (if any) to help fund scientific projects like yours
That's what I thought too which is why I didn't get too excited about the welding job.To be honest, a cill closure plate does little to the structure of the vehicle, other than keep the muck out the cills.
So sticking a suitable piece of metal in there, and sealing with Tiger seal would have done the trick.
