Freelander 2 2007.
So I have HDC not available and won't start.
Brand new battery added and still same, however the LCD displays a log.
Any help or suggestions??
It's like the immobiliser is not deactivating.
I have taken the battery leads off for 30mins and waited and still same.
Anyone able to suggest anything. Thanks

Gorra be honest, never seen that before.
You've done a battery reset, next step could be hard reset, disconnect both battery leads and touch them against each other.
Worth a go ?

The log displayed on the infotainment screen is just showing the infotainment system operating cycles.
There's no OBD2 connection in the infotainment system, so it can't display anything engine related, just infotainment data.

Have you put an OBD2 reader on it to see if any error codes come up?

The car doesn't really have an immobiliser in the traditional sense.
If the key dock, ABS module, ECM, and Ipack don't recognise the key, the ECM doesn't allow the engine to start.

Does the engine crank over, or just do nothing when the start button is pressed?

So the key is accepted, all the central locking etc works.
I have ignition, press the button and a click, I'm thinking maybe starter motor so have removed that and will replace, I shorted the starter and nothing.
I have a basic obd reader with no errors.
Thanks for replying

If the starter is clicking, then the ECM is probably sending the start signal to the start relay. It's not uncommon for the starter solenoid contactors to burn out, there's even a solenoid repair kit available to solve that issue for about £20.

I'm going to replace the whole starter as it looks rough and the solenoid connection is poor. Thanks for the reply 🙂
