Hi all have brought a RRc 1990 and was thinking the fog lights dont work spent 2 hrs looking for fault only to find they work with the hi beam on  Doh !!! want i would like to know is how do you change it so that when driving if foggy you can turn them on with normal lights do i need to rewire them or is there any easy way to change the set up.

by the way great site :)

Which wires should i remove look for to change not to good with this stuff also were are the relays located got no manuals for ref wise.

Fogs should only work with the dipped lights. highbeam reflects back and ruins ya vision. just wire em into the dipped lighting circuit.

And it would fail the MOT as well you need a separate switch for them

The fogs don't work on mine either,I'd not thought of trying them on high beam.I am assuming they are supposed to work with main/dipped beam like most cars do?

I thought the idea of front fog lights (on any car) was to be able to use them without headlights at all, so in really heavy fog you can see the kerb but are not blinded by the reflected dipped lights.

Me too - on my Camaro the fog lights shut off when you put main beams on.

I replaced on of my fog lamps months ago and was a bit annoyed neither of them worked but just forgot about trying to fix it. After reading this post I checked mine with main beams on and they work! Not sure why Land Rover would have wired them up this way from stock?

They are actually driving lamps as suggested above, mine only work with main beam on and just found my owners manual which says thats how they should work.

If you remove the driving light switch from the dash behind the switch are 2 spare wires these are connected to the dipped beam circuit.

Unplug the mainbeam wires from the rear off the switch and replace with the dipped beam wires.

All range rovers exported to the USA had fog lamps instead of driving lamps that came on with the dipped beam circuit.

The wiring for both types was pre-installed on the loom.

Thats usefull info,I'll be checking behind the switch panel in mine tommorow as the lamps would be more use to me if they were switchable with dipped beam.
