Hi All,

Some cream seats came my way at the right price but are from a 98 HSE. The main reason for changing is my existing drivers seat is to the metal on the rear. So what is the best way to get these in the car?

Stripe and rebuild using parts from both to get manual leather?
Or
Can I power the motors using the existing switches?
Or
Do I need to stripe out the out station and make up my own driver board with relays or similiar to directly power the motors. I understand enough about elecs to just about make a relay fwd or reverse a motor (to give some idea where I am electrically)?
Or
Should I investigate getting a Hiline BeCM and getting it swapped not keen as would rather leave that alone plus being in Jersey means sending things a long way......
Or
Just put back on fleebay and take it as a senior moment (I do have quite a complete interior)?
I am willing to try and make this work though so any advice welcome.

Thanks in advance.

You could power the seats using the switches and relays.

Thanks datatek, will get my wiring diagram thinking cap on but might look at changing the bases over first. This might be an over the winter job.

Flat battery and sitting a bit low to sort out first and just read the posting where it mentions moving the FIP towards block and cleaning armature on starter motor oh and the oil is due for a change, pretty much all the oil, having had it for two years...........

Wish me luck!

i fitted electric seats to mine 2 yrs ago they plugged in and worked i just rang a friend who said if you have a hi line becm it should work them but you might have to get it pluggrd in to activate the function

If you've got a shed or garage and a spare battery you could do all your wiring (experimenting) before you fit the seats. Then all you'd have to do is connect them to a supply when you fit them.

But he has a DT with a Lo Line BECM:(

:behindsofa:

As well as the "H" type Becm, you also need the harness to the seat(s)-(Threw one of those in the in the bin when we moved cos no one wanted it !!).
The main connector on the harness to the Becm is Green and plugs into the rearmost socket, nearest the floor tunnel on the Becm. There is also a smaller connector that plugs in just below the Becm fuses. The Becm does not have to be "Activated" to operate the seats.
Bear in mind that the door mirrors will not have the memory function.

Not necessarily, check your BeCM sticker first, as I have a DT manual and a H type BeCM fitted. I guess they were differently equipped for various markets.
