Thanks for that! I'm 50/50 as to whether it's really just snake oil or has the intended effect because some people think it's worthless and others completely swear by it!

i'll give it a go some day and report back.

Well tbh unless you hook it up to an emissions tester, your unlikely to see or feel much difference! The difference will show itself at MOT time. Also, the diesel we use these days is very low in sulfur, and so its lubricating properties are pretty poor. A shot of that stuff every so often is supposed to lubricate the pump too, so IMO for the price it's worth a punt!

Well, just a quick update... if you don't already know from the http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/what-have-you-done-your-landie-today-62254-1007.html thread, I had a small accident yesterday... it's all fine now though!

Yesterday I bent the bumper back into position and hammered the wing back into shape before reattaching the front driver's side indicator after crunching that corner while reversing full-lock left with a telegraph pole lined up with my door pillar :(

A bit wrinkly, but not too bad considering I don't have a bag of sand or a panel beating hammer...

And all because I drove to my local Landy place to buy a new bolt and O ring for the cyclone breather which has fallen off the side of the engine. He didn't have any in stock, as it happens.

Oh, and the scrape on the corner of the bumper is where I had to drive slowly forwards into my own garage brick wall to bend the it back into position. It had been bent forwards by about 6-8 inches, and the Landy only stopped because I stepped on the brake! The telegraph pole was completely fine (as you would expect), and I suspect the Landy would have just bent the bumper to 45 degrees if I hadn't braked.

What a crappy afternoon... and seriously... I wasn't in a rush... I just didn't see the telegraph pole! It must have lined up with the door pillar... it must have.

Not all bad though... I took the opportunity to scrape, brush and clean the inner wing and coat it in Waxoyl :)

ok... a question or two if I may...

My cyclone breather has fallen off the engine. It's missing an O ring and the bolt (and presumably washer) that fixes it to the engine.

Does anyone know the part numbers for these? My local LR dealer doesn't stock those parts although he can get them in (cheaper for me to pay postage online though).

I also need the part number for the spring that holds the right-hand indicator in (unless anybody has one spare)!

Thanks in advance!!

hmm... the independent landy dealer said it was a weird bolt... not just a standard one I could buy from homebase or screwfix.

As for silicone gasket, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the O ring rather than a tube of silicone gasket?? :D

OK, thanks for that... so if I buy an M6 bolt and a washer, that should be fine...

And is there a part number for the O ring?? Or does anyone have one they could post me if I sent you a stamped, addressed envelope??

hmm... ok... well i'd still like to get hold of either an O ring or at least the part number for it if anybody knows it!

As for the silicone... I do have a tube of clear silicone sealant that I used to stick the CB aerial cable up the side of the windscreen... weather-proof, winter-proof, summer-proof, UV light-proof etc... is that the same stuff as the silicone "gasket" you speak of though? I've never tried it under extreme temperatures...

There are a lot of different silicones, I only use instant gasket when needed, it's orange.

This is a low stress application so likely that any silicone will work here, but yes get an o ring and just use the silicone until you get the ring. Only use a smear, don't cake it on, just enough to seal the joint.

OK, thanks for the o ring part number... if I'm paying postage to have that delivered though, i may as well get the bolt to go with it!

I've search high and low for the part number for that damn bolt, and I can't find it anywhere... not in my haynes, not in the LR Parts app on my iPhone and not on the web!

Any clues??

Right... well thanks for the part number! It appears that nobody sells it - they all say "go to the main dealer".

I could go to screwfix, but i'd have to buy 50 of them... but probably for the same price as the postage from somewhere else, so i'll try that.

Can't buy the O ring from screwfix though! lol

just worked it out... it'll cost me £3 in diesel to drive to the places to buy the parts, Land Rover want basically £1.50 for each O ring (I was gonna buy two), and Mackays probably want 50p or so for the bolt & a washer!

Grand total if I drive around Cambridge to buy the parts: £6.50!

So... if you would be so kind as to stick a bolt and two O rings (if you have two available) in the post to me, James, i'd really appreciate it.

I'll PM you my delivery address... and you can PM me a method to pay :)

ok, next question... my driver's side electric window goes all the way down so you can no longer see the glass. This is perfect.

The rear windows go half way down, which I suspect is also normal.

The front passenger window, however, goes down until there are 2 or 3 inches of it still showing. It does not go all the way down into the door like the driver's side window does.

Is this normal?? If not, is there a common fault that's worth checking, or just a case of taking the door card off and seeing what's up??
