I have a couple. Small in the dash, bigger in the back.

However if my landy set on fire my tears would put the fire out.

**** running away I'm gonna fight that ****er til I can't fight it no more.

It is petrol though so when it's time to run its time to run.

Right now i would happily let mine burn, but i understand you reticence at letting yours go up in flames MR N;)

Iv got one on my roll cage so even if im upside down iv still got a chance.. :flame::rolly:better to have it an not need it rather than other way around!

Do you know how much fooking mess they make? Powder that is. It gets everywhere it does.

I used to do fire protection for a living a few years back and I had about 3 or so go off in the back when I was going down the motorway! :(:doh:

Had to pullover quick and wash my eyes and mouth out!

I set one off in the back of my 300tdi 110 when I was loading some cabinets in the back. I had nowhere to go to get out of the firing line and came out looking a bit like a ghost.:doh:

Yeah the mess us unreal. I emptied one beciasr unwanted to use the cylinder as an air tank, took it into a field and let rip. kinda puts you off having to use it! Best get some foam!

You can get rid of a mess but you can't get rid of third degree burns!

Regarding the coke can would you say diet coke is more effective than full fat? :p

A few years back I was following another recovery truck when the rear brakes caught fire. After flashing my lights, beeping my horn and trying to get his attention he finally pulled over to see what I wanted. we decided to use a can of coke to put the fire out rather than the fire extinguishers that we had in our trucks. It actually made the fire worse.:eek::eek:

We finally extinguished it using the 30 litres of water that I carry onboard my truck.

Interesting that we all carry powder... i do too... yet, C02 would also be very useful - if your engine runs away or even just has a minor fire, squirting C02 into the air intake will suffocate the engine but do no harm.

Put powder down the air intake and you'll have to strip it and re-build it. (well... it's going to do more damage than C02 that's for sure)

I have a small one in the glove box type space in my 110 haven't looked what sort, it was in the landy when I bought it,about 3 inch diameter by 10 inch long.
Is co2 a liquid ?
And I always thought diesel was hard to catch fire

Doesn't need to be the fuel that catches fire though ... could be electrical or you could get hit by a petrol car on the road that then catches fire while under your Landy etc etc ...

so let me get this right if i fit a pub gas bottle fullof co2 into me landy with no regulator fed into the engine bay via a network of 8 mm hoses aiming at key points such as main loom fuel filter/pump air filter /intake and so on

this could in effect be as good if not better than just haveing a powder one in the cab wich i would have aswell since ive got 6 knocking around in the house and sheds

No ... but I like your thinking :D
