I agree but have done nowt about it.

How easy is it to nick a Disco 1 with immobiliser and alarm?

Wish I knew then I could decide what to do if its too easy for them:confused:

easier than one with a pedal lock, hidden switch and steering lock :)

admittedly in these days of battery grinders we are fighting a losing battle but its all about making the next one down the road easier than ours....

fender alarms are easy to defeat,,, just look on u tube... disco prob not that hard to a scrote in the know.... and no use to a pro with a car lifter... but every extra step makes the next one down the road an easier proposition :)

cheers steve (i'm calmer now lol )

I used to leave my Disco outside the house unlocked in the hope that someone would be daft enough to steal it :D Wouldn't have been easy as the dammed thing would never start without a jump start from my daughters Micra

They never did

Better not try with the Defender though, I love her :D :D

Exactly... live on a dead end road, before you get to mine there is 4 x disco, 1 x series, 2 x defender - all with less security than my Disco 1 and Series. I feel i have a bit of a early warning system from them lot :D

(that and Diskloks on both of them and a few other security toys)

People's problem is they would rather buy a nice new shinny winch bumper or set of wheels ect ect rather than some security an before you know it they have a beast with no security

If you have no security say goodbye to you defender

yeah but people forget a switch n wire is £2 from halfrauds... at least do summat :)

cheers steve

Well thanks for kicking of my paranoia. Mines currently sat outside with a pedal box lock, no battery, no steering wheel and at this moment in time no seats! Yet I still feel I need to have a look out the window, cheers for that.

I remember reading a suggestion that someone had somewhere - buy a cheap phone, PAYG sim card, adapt the charger to run off the ignition so it always stays charged, hide it somewhere in the car - under a panel or something - if it does get nicked, you can trace the phone signal.
Not sure if this actually works though...

mine has no rear axle and is blocked in by 2 vehicles... i'm still relieved to see it every morning :)

yeah me too:eek::eek::eek:
Mine hasnt got an engine in it at the mo, but ive still got a disc lock fitted

But seriously I do agree with the OP! You have to invest in ways to deter and slow thieves down. It's not a guarnteed way to keep your landy but it's a massive help, the only thing that you can realistically do is make it as much of a ball ache as possible.

ive been fettling about with me series and figured out its pretty futile putting any immobiliser on there without armour plating the starter motor lectrics first wich is one of me current little projects on the go

but at the moment shes on me drive right under me bedroom window with a bloody big chain and padlock through the steering wheel to a heafty steel hoop welded through the floor onto the outrigger battery disconnected and main fuse removed behind me trailer wich is behind the locked driveway gate with yet another ferkin big chain and a motion sensed camera wired to the laptop to record and sound an alarm if theres any movement bigger than a cat

and ive yet to disguise one of these as a spare wheel and mount it on the bonnet :D:D
