I would like to be ale to read the error message.
Can you share a screen using Zoom or Cisco Webex? I prefer Cisco.

Got it in one my friend! !Saw that but sometimes it is better to talk it through with someone from the start and if you can see their screen you can spot where they're going wrong. In Alan's case this is where he picked up the computer.
it could well be, I'll check the pin out with the wiring diagram againIt says :7
Vehicle server not found.
Setup was unable to connect to the vehicle sever. Please make sure that the vehicle server is powered and properly connected to this machine and try again.
Click back to change the connection method , click help for connection troubleshooting or click next to try again with the current settings
Could it be something to do with the cable you had trouble with few months ago?
Checked the cable and all checked out as per diagram, did notice a modification in the centre of the diagram and wonder if I need to do that? ,it could well be, I'll check the pin out with the wiring diagram again
That should not be necessary.Did you right click on the ve.exe file and then select "Run as Adminstrator"?
Morning Alan, all well here and the sun is back today. I can't add much to what the others have said, but I can meter out a working cable if it would help.Found a clearer image, before I scribbled over it my cable checks out as the Before side of the diagram.
It's not on Win 10, I have just set up my Faultmate on 10, no idea about 8.Sometimes it is on Win 8 and 10.
I didn't yet will try later, you must realise you are talking to a two year old when it comes to putors. Thanks again everyone and stay safe.Did you right click on the ve.exe file and then select "Run as Adminstrator"?
Morning Keith, the sun's cracking the flags here, thank God. Lockdown would be a nightmare if we were stuck indoors. Glad you are all safe, hopefully this will be a bad memory soon. What are your thoughts on the modification shown in #post 49? I have the modules for later models but to run this for my 98 P38 I didn't think it necessary. speak soon RegardsMorning Alan, all well here and the sun is back today. Keep well.
Whatever software modules you have in the Faultmate, vehicle Explorer should talk to it. I can't read you cable list on my little notebook. I'll go meter out my working cable and send you the details.Morning Keith, the sun's cracking the flags here, thank God. Lockdown would be a nightmare if we were stuck indoors. Cheers Dan, I've checked out my cable and it pins out ,tried it on two different laptops, both running Windows 10.the only common factor is the series to USB adapter as supplied. I'll check out @JUKE179r 's suggestion while I wait for @Datatek to get back to me. Wish I was closer to a putor wizard. Stay safe.Seeing as the SW is complaining it cannot communicate with the standalone "Vehicle Server" it is fair to assume there is a comms failure between the two (as you can see the Vehicle Server part is UP and running) so most likely the cable or a failure in the usb to serial port area. I should imagine you are not too far from success Alan.
It's likely to be the USB to serial adaptor, if it's an early one it may not be compatible with Win 10, mine wasn't, I had to buy a new one. The other thing is that the driver my need to be loaded before the adaptor is plugged into the computer. Cable info below.Cheers Dan, I've checked out my cable and it pins out ,tried it on two different laptops, both running Windows 10.the only common factor is the series to USB adapter as supplied.
