More to the point Did you get anywhere Alan ?
Dont update to 10 ,worst move I made.Windows 95 was better than 3.1 I think and it’s 28 installation floppy disks and 98 was amazing and the 2000 and ME was ****e and then XP saved the day. Can’t remember what turds came after that but windows 7 was great and 8 was for touch screen crap I think and haven’t braved 10 yet as my whole world is on an old pc that keeps nagging me to update but if I get it wrong I may as well just die and burn my RR, bike , family ...
Something like that anyway .
Will try later Thanks.@tomcat59alan ... try this... right click on the ve.exe file and then select open as Adminstrator.
"NUNS"...Don't you have enough bad "habits" without trying to get into theirs Alan? Hope you are both well in thee frustraticting times! Mike.Well this feels odd , I’ll try and be sensible and answer your question while I’m dressed. ..
The pc is saying it can’t find the file on your computer that your shortcut is pointing to so are you sure it’s still installed ?
What windows version are you using ?
Do you know how to navigate to the vehicle explorer file location ?
You could try typing vehicle explorer in the search box in the bottom left corner of the screen. You may have to re install the vehicle explorer program from the BBS site.
The message on the unit is saying it is waiting for a message from the pc to say you are using it in conjunction with the laptop but it won’t get it as the program didn’t run. You can also use the faultmate in standalone mode as in not connected to laptop by pressing any button on the unit and then navigating to your vehicle and following the menus through to the ecu you want to test.
If you navigate to program files and then the black box folder if it’s there and see if you can see the .exe file and double click it but from your first pic it isn’t where it should be .
Feck, arse , girls , drink , NUNS !!

That's if you are using it in the office, otherwise it powers from the OBD port.Hello you old tart, what are you powering it with, i have to have a 12 Volt supply in the left hand end as you are looking at it although mine doesn't light up if i don't?

Hi Keith, I'm using Windows 10, vehicle explorer is from a disc that came with the Faultmate, there is a menu to select input I had selected USB. As you can tell I'm not pc savvy.Hard to read the error message Alan.
What version of Windows are you running?
The driver for the USB to serial adaptor has to be loaded BEFORE the adaptor is plugged in or it may not work.
The Vehicle Explorer cannot in my experience just be copied across from another machine, it has to be downloaded from the BBS site and to do the download you have to be registered as the owner of the Faultmate.
Assuming the above points are OK, the correct USB port has to be selected, usually Comm 4.
I would like to be ale to read the error message.Hi Keith, I'm using Windows 10, vehicle explorer is from a disc that came with the Faultmate, there is a menu to select input I had selected USB. As you can tell I'm not pc savvy.
I'll set it up again tomorrow and try and get a clearer photo, thanks Keith, hope your well and keeping safe.I would like to be ale to read the error message.
