Disco 2 Facelift TD5 EGR Removal kits

Any thoughts on which kit to go for? I don’t have any real reason to do it, engine seems healthy but given others comments on it being an improvement I’m willing to give it a go. Hoping it may benefit the mighty 23mpg it’s currently achieving too!

I bought one off ebay from a company called egr delete. Had a couple from them i the past for different vehicles and have always been very good quality fast postage and easy fitting with instructions.
The company do several for the td5 ones with and without egr coolers and one with an output for a boost gauge to be fitted to get actual manifold boost pressure.

Don't know if yours is auto or not but I also fitted a de-EGR kit to try to reduce fuel consumption. The kit was fine but it made absolutely no diff to MPG. In the end discovered it was the MAF which was rubbish, despite being new. Finally replaced it with an expensive one, which immediately showed an improvement, and a slight performance improvement. It appears if your MAF is rubbish, simply disconnecting means the ECM then puts it into a sort of best-fit map, which is better than running with a bad MAF. You've probably seen the interminable Sierrafery/Wammers arguments about MAFs and EGRs. You pays your money and you makes your choice, but all I can tell you is that, despite being de-egred, my truck ran better with a decent MAF, and used less Doisel.

It is Auto. It’s now my daily and I do have some 245/75/16 fairly aggressive hybrid MT tyres on it so I’m not expecting great things. Had hoped for mid/late 20’s mpg but not a deal breaker. Will do some research on what the MAF sensor should be reading and see how I feel about the EGR. That kit looks ideal though thanks @109inches

If I were doing mine now I too would go for the Allisport, for two reasons. It blanks at the inlet pipe and means you don't have to disturb the two fragile bolts on the exhaust manifold which have a habit of shearing off; and it keeps the bronzed pipe in place from the exhaust manifold which, with the covers on, is the only part of the EGR system visible to an MOT tester.
