Where is it mate? Sure it can be added to the list.

Terling is between Boreham and Witham.
The ford connects Norman Hill and River Hill.
Two video clips. first is what its normally like (I used to live close by) the second video is after heavy rain.
I would guess it's higher than normal at present.

Have fun guys & please no more Monday nights:(. I wanna come next time.

Will have to do Violets lane some time, would like to get my MT's sorted first, after today deff confrims that MT's needed........
Violets lane is fine with road tires, the base is sand and gravel, plenty of grip. Also plenty of water, like driving up a river-well it is driving up a river.
Try wetroads.co.uk for a complete list n reveiw of fords. I recomend good easter, terling is surpisingly deep, dont know if they have fixed the drop off yet either.

Well that was a funny night. One casualty was Brians standard Disco getting drowned on the last lane!
Not much in the way of fords though unfortunally, think gonna have to trace a load more on the maps and plan a route for another day after loads of rain.

Sounds like Brain has had enough of water for the time being.
Hope its nothing too serious. I've been thinking about a snorkel, out of interest what happened? did it take a gulp & if so how deep.

Would be useful to know, how deep I SHOULDN'T go (book suggests 20")

Dunno he switched it off!
Then his battery ran out of power. Took about 45 minutes to tow him out and a further hour and a half of him cramming it over to no avail.

What a night. I'm still happy even though I had to leave the landy by the side of the road and walk the 3 miles home.

Thanks for all your help guys. Especially Geoff for the tow out of the lane and onto somewhere safe.

I hope you got home ok. Sorry I did not have a chance to thank you personally but I understand you had alternator problems again.

If you need any help with it let me know. I will need to go to wickford soon so if you want me to collect the alternator and take it to the specialist let me know.

My landy really excelled itself over the rest of the night and I should have listened to my feelings and gone home before the last lane. I knew what it would be like. Oh well, if I can get mine started with my spare battery then I will have a look into getting a cheap snorkel fitted.

The water I was in was a lot more than 20 inches. Was up to the air intake so will have a measure later.

I didn't switch it off. It took in water and died then would not start. Did you see my air filter, or should I say sponge. Sopping wet.

I am hoping the water did not get into the electrics in the passenger footwell. Will be going over for a look in a while with my spare battery.

Ah I thought you said you turned it off!
I was thinking it was electrical related as it didn't sound like it had hydalocked (sp?)
Try taking the glow plugs out and cranking it over see if any water comes out. Either that or the spider thing is causing immobilizer issues.

Oh no, sounds like you had a good time last night........., apart from Brians Mishap, Hope things all ok with your motor mate, I would offer to help you out today but Little one is not wel again so I am looking after here today.

Wish I could of made it but the ex had to work last night and could not get out of it, normaly Larney would of gone out to a club so ex could of worked.

The work situation is looking up as well, looks like a Got a couirer job starting in two weeks if the security clearnaces come through :D :D :D

Congratulaton Stu. Hope it works out for you.

Well got the good battery in and same thing, turning over but not starting.

Took an injector pipe off and turned it over and not much more than little spits of fuel came through.

Loosened the bleed nipple on the filter housing and tried the lift pump but nothing. There seemed to be no resistance on the lever so tried blipping it over a few times to get the cam round but no change.

Took the drain plug off the bottom of the filter and a bit of fuel dribbled out but should have poured out.

Does it sound like a lift pump gone? And how would it suddenly give up like that?

Other than checking the pick up in the boot I don't know what else to try.

Does sound excatly like what my lift pump was doing when it failed a couple of weeks ago.
Mine had stuttered a few times whilst out driving before it went but when yours failed the angle you were at would mean the pump would have to work harder to draw fuel up to the pump.
Plus side is its a piece of **** to change, just 2 lines and 2 bolts. And when you have off i bet its alot easier to move the leaver up and down unlike the new one.

Brian doing lanes backwards being towed not to be recommended fair play to your mate for driving backwards, bet his neck aches today. One of the alternator fixings snapped off, it was just dangling no wonder the belt came off. got in at half three no fun driving home down country lanes with no power to the steering or brakes, lucky had a spare battery at least I had lights to get home. on the plus side just got in from work to find me new winch bumper on the drive.
