The track rod end goes straight on to drop arm, doing away with drop arm pin, can the damper not go on the track rod I'm sure I've seen this. Is this right Ian. What you got on yours

same as yours on mine mate, but you could also weld a bracket on the front arm for damper to bolt to, have thought about doing it myself as im not keen on the fender setup, was dicusing it with james the other week when i saw him at the hosp,

Seen this problem a few times now with hd arms with locknut, lock nut coming loose and threads wearing themselves over a period of time....when i put mine on i set up the tacking and thread locked the **** out of them

Will have to heat them if i ever need to change the ball joints!.

Mine are made by pressbrake and very happy with them!

Mikey is your still standard set up but with HD bars.

Oh dear that doesnt look good... I have just swapped mine to disco, the ball joint is in the steering rod and not the arm, the damper is also on the rear track rod, you may need to make a bracket up for it to bolt onto the axle, you will need both rods and the steering box arm to do it all.

I finally got both axles fitted, the handbrake has given up tho, all the adjusters are knackers, need that sorted then ready for some lanes while the suns out...

Don't suppose you still got the Cross rod eye as I want to see if the thread in the rod is shot before I make a decision on what to do.

Yeah if its the same setup as a standard 200tdi. The ball joint snapped in the steering arm but the rest is still good i think. Im off work next week but am popping in tuesday evening so can grab them...

That would be good, it's the part that screws in to rod with the mounting for damper, I'm in Colchester at some point this week can collect then.
Will pm my number.thanks.

Disco steering set up is the way to go, no drop arm ball joint to mess with. You dont need to relocate the steering damper its best protected where it is on the fender set up, just make a bracket to weld/clamp to the front arm, everything you need is on the old cross eye part just measure cut off and weld to new arm or bracket. Thread lock the locking nuts should be enough but you can never have enough thread lock some times :) also stops water ingress. Let me know what pressbake says Geoff.

Hi James
just got back from press brake, he can make up front bars from solid steel. Use old locking nuts, and he reckons clamp for the damper not weld because the rod rotates when tracking the wheels. He is checking price of the steel and will let me know hopefully later.
will phone when i hear.

Cheers thats a thought if the tracking ever needs adjustment could be difficult, would mean removing ball joints to adjust.
