I cheated and got a 300tid (no abs, no aircon) less to go wrong!
mine cost £1700 with new mud tyres, new MOT, both diff guards, tank guard, guardian bumpers front & rear, t-max 11000 wich, snorkle, breather pipes, steering guard, rock sliders, light bar and fogs, carpet taken out, tool box bolted in back, waffle boards, high lift jack.....I just need some bigger springs, dislocation cones and a few bigger batteries!

just brought another CB off ebay £30 with burner, result!

I know its cheating buying one thats already kitted out, but I plan on keeping this one forever.

Should hopefully finish work early enough tomorrow that I can pop to Mansfield and pick up the last remanings parts I had on order. Then afternoon job of stripping the remains of my Corrado and maybe fitting a few new bits to the Disco

HI Wickford
yes got a few on watch on fea bay and there are a couple on auto trader i watching might have a look out sat at least so i can have agood look over one and test drive it never even been in one , but from what most are saying looks like its a disco 2.5 tdi i did want all the leather and toys in but now looking at some of the reall off road pics there is no need as they will get filthy dirty

Keep it basic , less to go wrong. its a play thing you dont need all the luxuries.
dont be tempted to buy the first one speak to people that have one and who can tell you what to look out for, mainly rust followed by rust then more rust. listen to Brian Matt and Stu who have them and know the weak points(anything made of metal)

Thanks wickford thats what i been trying to do just to get a grounding and understanding off them never done off roading before and you want to collect info what ever why you can but yes defo to simple i have ruled out the ES as all that leather what a waste

djguy
at the risk of another slating off big stu a 300TDI ? is that another disco?

yeah its another disco, 200tdi and 300tdis, I couldnt really tell you the difference, but the 300tdi its a little more moden on the inside!

Originally he wanted £2200, then he dropped it to £2000, so i offered him £1400 (he ignored me)

then he said £1700 - BARGAIN

the tyres have only done 1500 miles and it had a recon head, that was all presure tested last year, the bloke that MOT'd it said he had seen 10 year old discoverys with more rust on than mine :)

I will get my heated seats & screen working for this winter then tell me its a waste as you all freeze your butts off :p But having faulty eletrics does **** me off and I do regret the number of basic Disco's I turned my nose up before I brought this one.

thanks guys some good info there
but i sure like all new hobbies i going to get burned first time round im sure
but i get the drift simple as less to clean after and break
the only thing i can do is have a look arround at a few and go from there worst ways i guess it can always be sold again

I did feel sorry for him. Especially when Matt pointed out the hole he had just discovered (in his Discovery  ).

He did'nt look as ****ed off as i would have, after being told he had to replace a c.v. wheel bearings weld up holes and probably a few other bits. we've all been there.

Stu will be along soon with a plasma cutter, then he's ****ed.
