Yeah one big item that you guys have got to get a decent set of recovery pionts,

Spike I didn't notice before but it looks like you not got any recovery points on the front, what do you have on the rear? the tie down rings on the back and the towing eye on the front that is fitted is just not upto a good recovery jolt, and where they are fixed has to be good as well.

Also what sort of kit have you got as far as recovery goes? ie ropes Straps/Shakles, ect, and rated at that, not just a tescos/halfords special.

Looks like I may be about tomoz now, as I am not going to the land of the scot's, so I may be out with you.

Thats it, you all go out to play and leave me at home with my crippled 90.

Fairly certain its the bearing, had a guy off LZ who lives near me pm me to see if he could help me do it, which I thought was really nice. He said he could do it friday or Monday, but I would like to be there so I know how its done for future reference. so busy at the moment dont know best time.
Laning day in Thetford sounds nice, rub it in why dont you. you know i cant go.

After having one for four years , you would be vert supprised what a freelander can do, no it has not got the ground clearance, or the large wheel sizes, to give yet more.

Dont knock em untill you tried em.

I'm only joking :D

Just don't tie anything near the doors or they might fall off

I've got the two towing eyes on the front and two on the back (part of the tow-bar). I've got a 4m (3000KG rope) and a 4m (4000KG) strap/rope - there are clip skakles on both, but I don't have any additional shakles. Also fire extinguisher & first aid kit + CB radio. Hope that's enough

Well as u may have guessed um new to this. I have towing eye on front and tow bar on the back should these not be used?
I am looking at the best way to get a winch on the front but won't happen for a while yet

the towing eyes are the the manufactures ones?

The 3000kg one will be ok for towing, but youll be supprised how much extra a bogged down disco will take to recover, standard its about 2100kgs, start to add kit and accessorys it all adds up, and you realy want rated shakles as well.

I would go for bow shakels as well rateher then D shakles, if you can get a rope/ strap for 7 ton, dont buy a kinettic untill you know how to use one.

i got a 12 ton rated rope, and a 6 ton strap and a selection od shakkles.

extinguisher, first aid kit and cb is good, basic kit,:):):)

tow balls can be used, but do you want to put the strian on them also a tow ball has an open top, i would rather not use a tow ball.

I would not know if the freelander front tow eye is good enough but i would not want to use it for recovery from a mud hole, lol, its just ment for towing as is the discovery one.

best to talk to the freelander giys to see what they use, if you intend to take iyt to the limits and get stuck oftern,

Not sure about limits yet as I said I'm new to this.
I have put in a cb
Is there a list somewhere on here I can get.
And if these tow points are no good is it a question of getting out the mig and attatching stronger ones?

best place to ask is the freelander section, as far as welding some on that would depend where, as you would not want to do damage durring a snatch recovery, and it depends on your welding, and it will only be as strong as what you weld it to

Would be good to catch up. sorry to hear about your father-in-law.

I'm so hoping mine sounds better after the diff oil is changed.
I drove the passet through a muddy puddle today, its more than the Landys done in 6 six weeks. Hopefully see you at the driving day in April (SLROC).

Iam not talking about this week , if prople are intrested, i'll look into it for perhaps end april

Yes, Yes & Yes.

I wouldn't worry to much about the winch, after all I don't want to suffer with winch envy! seriously thou, just sort out decent recovery points (jates rings, cheap as jate rings) and give it a go. I'm really interested to see how they perform off road.

:crazy_driver:
Just drive carefully.
If I've shagged something big such as a diff or transfer box then I'll have eyes on your motor :D

Surely it would be cheaper to fix yours???

I cant think why you would want mine as yours is much nicer. Or did you mean the bits if I break it?
