Were your just worn.
How long do they take to do, not that i have the time yet. might get a mobile mech to do them , if ones gone the other wont be far behind in collapsing

The Passangers side front had shall we say fallen to bits, but that sounded realy bad, the other front one was just worn.

I did the frist one on the front in about 2 hrs, the other font one took about 3/4 hrs, the second one at the front was about 1hr just over, todays one was just a few mins as I had the hub off to do the stub axel seal.

I would do both at the same time, as you say the others prob not much behind, I only done one side today as I brought the new one just in case i need it, lol.

one thing you will need is a bi hex 13mm Socket for the break calippers. I had to use a dremil to get the inner bearing race off, as it was tight in the stub shaft. also keep the outside of the old bearings and cut a slot in its easyer to get them out after using them to knock in the new ones. I have kept a set of two out side races, and one inside race

I have a set of old ones to cut a slot in, if you want them, I'll get them out of the bin.

Anyone think us lot are making excuses why we can't go out and get dirty lol :D

Nothing has gone to plan lately :(

Oh well, we should all agree on SLROC in April!

Starter motor still isn't here. :(
Annoying thing is I moved the Disco to another part of the farm when we tided up our workshop and thats where its decided to break down, so can't get the airline round to it and its a pain in the arse to try adn get all the tools round there to work on it.
Plus I've picked up loads of scrap motors this week. Got a Golf VR6 at my mates workshop, a Saab Turbo at home on the drive and about to head out and pick up a BMW plus as soon as the Landy is working again got a guy wanting me to pick up his Jeep!
Why does it all happen at the same fecking time???

Lol, looks like all our landies are going on strike :D

Well i think mine is finished  Thought my bearings had gone but the hub nuts were just loose, so nipped them up and now no play  New caliper fitted along with new pads on the front and all looks well. Took it for a small drive last night and the temp only got to its usual 1/3 up the temp gauge and i had warm heaters. Will be taking it to the Brentwood meet tonight probably if it starts later for a proper test drive (battery is a bit buggered i think)

Need to change the swivels at some point but they can wait for now as its proper cleaned me out this month

Glad to hear things are looking up Tuskenraider - fingers and toes crossed.

New windscreen now fitted, took them just under 3 hours  hopefully water tight. £70 lighter, but at least more than 30% of the elements will heat up now:D

Took a drive to the garage and they checked out the Fuel leak and fixed it whilst i was there :D:D:D

Snorkel, was delivered today (less than 24 hours after ordering).
The rocksliders I fitted havent fallen off:cool:
I hope Thursday is still on.
Chris, hope your starter motor turns up soon.

If you need it towed back to your workshop I maybe able to help?
Out tonight but maybe tomorrow?

And the battery was flat again

Hate unreliable batterys so just cut my losses and bought a new one. Fook me the one the Motor Factor gave me looks like its off a Scania :D 96Ah, 640 Amps. You could use it to power a small village for a year :D

Right off to the meet tonight to slag my Landy off :blabla::D

hey its good to hear somethings are going well for some of you guys....

I may be having to shoot up to Scotland tomorrow after work, for the funeral of my ex father in law, I just got told today that the funerals on Thursday, they dont hang about up there.......

Got to discuss it with my Ex first, I would like to support my Children at this sad time, but will wait and see, I dont want to upset things more with the Ex's family if I am not welcome, plus he was a good man and we got on well.

When i first read this, i thought you meant your disco was finished, as in totally fooked glad to hear it up and running again. when you said you thought the bearings had gone , what were the symptons, because i have got some very iffy sounds from mine and am sure its the bearing, when i jacked it up there was loads of play but it didnt make any noise when i spun the wheel which i thought it would.

No symptoms really I just thought i would check them whilst the wheel was up in the air. Mine didnt make a noise when i spun the wheel either just a bit of play in them.

Made it to the meet and back with no issues so am a happy bunny again :D

Hi DiscoDad,

What time and where to meet on Thursday?? Would love to come and play :)

Spike

Well got hold of Kent 4x4 and turns out my faulty starter motor was put in the wrong pile so wasn't found till this afternoon. Anyway my replacement should be here in the morning.
Roll on the MOT prep.

Well less than 24 hours later - my Disco is 'not right' again.
Getting a whining noise from the back which gets worse with speed.

Only done a quick test drive and havent tried coasting in neutral.

Hoping to grease the prop nipples tomorrow lunch time and change the diff oil and then road test.
if its still there after that then I may not come out to play tomorrow - don't want to put extra stain on a worn part by green laning.

Just PM'd my mobile.
If I'm able to make it suggest 20:00 nr Coggeshall. I think your be coming south on the B1024, when you cross the A120 (from the B1024) there is an ind est (Priors Way), maybe entrance to the ind estate?
Can you PM me your mobile - in case i need to cancel at the last min (see my last post).

Anyone out tonight or Friday that a freelander could go that is?

Sorry Sasha,
Friday, no good for me, I'm sure someone will be about at the right time soon. With regard to capabilities of your Freelander, I've no idea just how capable (or not) a Freelander is. They get a fair bit of grief on here:p

Before you go out have you got recovery points (front and back).

Before you go out have you got recovery points (front and back).

Yeah one big item that you guys have got to get a decent set of recovery pionts,

Spike I didn't notice before but it looks like you not got any recovery points on the front, what do you have on the rear? the tie down rings on the back and the towing eye on the front that is fitted is just not upto a good recovery jolt, and where they are fixed has to be good as well.

Also what sort of kit have you got as far as recovery goes? ie ropes Straps/Shakles, ect, and rated at that, not just a tescos/halfords special.

Looks like I may be about tomoz now, as I am not going to the land of the scot's, so I may be out with you.
