Hello all,
I just traded my old 90 in for a 200tdi 110 csw. My 90 had all sorts of underbody protection (diff guards, steering guards, etc), however the new 110 seems to be bog standard. What are the essential parts I should put on before doing anything serious, if any? Most of the stuff I do is essentially mud bogging, water crossings (some a little rocky) and some driving in the mountains and quarries. Can anyone advise?

i have a well used off road 110, my protection is very limited - to the same spec as Camel trophy
1/ front steering guard
2/ fuel tank guard
3/snorkel
4/extended breathers
and that is it, if it was good enough to see the convoys of 110's through what they did then that was good enough for me. The 110 has been used for very boulder strewn tracks/ rocky river beds/ very steep mountain tracks etc etc

I think it depends entirely on the type of driving you do. Personally I dont like diff guards, coz they collect mud and corrode thru the diff pans in next to no time, but there is, obviously, a need for them in rocky driving.

Not sure quite what you mean by "what sort of driving I do", but it's just casual green laning and quarry type stuff, usually every weekend.
How effective are diff guards? I don't like the idea of them collecting crud and corroding the diff casing, and to me they look like just a fairly thin sheet of metal, so I don't really see how they could protect the diff from anything serious.

mine is like it left the military so no diff guards, steering guards or anything else. off roading isnt a race track so why would i be going so fast to break stuff?? and as my photo shows i do go everywhere

My 110 is also standard, bar some bigger tyres. I go laning a fair bit (Went down to Saislbury plain on Bank Holiday Monday :) ) and the only problem i had was a melted turbo boost pipe.

As said Diff Guards Rust the diff pans and Steering guards act like a plough if you need to reverse, not to mention they are a PITA if you want to change any steering components.

I will be getting some tree sliders at some point though :)
