Hi I have a '92 (so well pre-facelift) V8i 5 door manual with wood cappings on the dash and leather seat trim. I've not seen another like it and can't find any details of models and trim options from that era. Other than V8i on the tailgate there is nothing to indicate a model or special edition. Does anyone know if there were trim packs back then or did buyers just pick from an options list? Cheers, Chris.

There wasn't any disco in the 92 or 93 model years which had those items as standard, although they may have been available in the option list at the time, or even fitted by the previous owner.
The 1992MY was when the 5 door disco was introduced, with the 3.5 V8 EFI.

Hi Discool mine is as you suggest a 3.5i. It is silver with brown interior and the seats are a sandy brown colour. It doesn't look like an aftermarket job, especially as all 7 seats have leather and even the headrest pads are nicely finished. The dash wood cappings (between the airvents) are of a curved profile. The door wood is per the RR Classic I guess as the door cards are the same. Maybe the trim code would give a clue? I have seen some brochures on eBay for the 2003 MY which feature a silver 5 door with alloys.

Would LR special vehicles build posh Discos if you paid? Suppose RR parts in could've been raided in the factory

I had a 'J' plate 3.5i 5 door (twin sunroof) in blue with the 'sonar' blue interior, cloth & plastic was the interior

If that's not basic enough, both my current ('91 & '93) 3 door D1's are green with bRoWn interior & no sunroofs (the '93 is a 7 seater!!) so yours is positively luxurious in comparison :p

Rich. (Not jealous o_O)

Hi Rich, maybe the wood kit is aftermarket but a lot of trouble to go to in forming the curved sections between the airvents ... also interesting is that the "luxury spec" doesn't include aircon, or ABS. And its a pre-cat V8i too.

I don't think any 200s had ABS, not even as an option. The reason for the airbox change on 300s was to give space for the ABS pump.

Its a V8 though. I know the cat was added to the V8 for the 93MY so mine must be a 92. Maybe ABS wasn't offered till the 94MY facelift?

As the dash and center console wood appears to be thin plywood which easy to curve by steaming if you have the kit plus the skill so may be part of a kit available at some time.
The seat looks similar to the late 300 series ES Premium which had the contrasting coloured piping fitted, the head rest/restraint type would confirm, the door card does appear to be from a later RRc as they had the push out ash trays plus the wood tops.
The hand brake etc. gators are standard stuff available on eBay.
So sorry it's not luxury or a LR special vehicle division build as being custom built vehicles usually came "fully loaded" .
