I used heat but sparingly, didn't want to melt any rubber bits on or around the wheel bearing.
Good call. People have been known to forget the shovel and melt the CV boot. :-/

You won't need it if you have the correct socket and a BIG bar.Is it safe to get some heat on the hub nut? Don't want to damage the pricey wheel bearing which has no play..
No.Crow bar looks like it'll lock the hub, found an imperial impact socket 3/4" drive, 3/4" short breaker bar and a length of tube. Gonna have dinner and attack it after. They aren't left hand thread are they? I've knocked the locking 'tap' away.View attachment 247000

You may break your 1/2in cracker bar if you put a tube on it, better knacker the T bar, judging by the trousers I see you have housed an Afghan refugee.Mustaffa.Rangie?Crow bar looks like it'll lock the hub, found an imperial impact socket 3/4" drive, 3/4" short breaker bar and a length of tube. Or 2 bags of spinachWeld the socket to a scaffhold tube. Then have 6 weetabix
Ha! Does look like I've got Ali babar trousers on, weird angle that's all.You may break your 1/2in cracker bar if you put a tube on it, better knacker the T bar, judging by the trousers I see you have housed an Afghan refugee.Mustaffa.Rangie?
Don't forget to treat it as a dead lift, rather then pushing down. If it goes or something breaks you'll easily stop a dead lift. Pushing down and you'll break your teeth.Crow bar looks like it'll lock the hub, found an imperial impact socket 3/4" drive, 3/4" short breaker bar and a length of tube. You should be alright then, the photo looks like is a 1/2to3/4 adapterHa! Does look like I've got Ali babar trousers on, weird angle that's all.
Breaker bar is 3/4" too.
I'm gonna put the opposite axle wheel back on, chock the rear wheels and Chuck the spare under the sill this side incase it slips off the jacking beam
That's just laying on the floor, was going to use that until I found the 1 1/4" 3/4" socket and breaker bar.You should be alright then, the photo looks like is a 1/2to3/4 adapter
I ended up drilling the sensor out and replacing it.when I put it back together I cut the dust cover so the sensor can stay in place if the hub ever has to come off again.someone did the same and posted a photo. That's just laying on the floor, was going to use that until I found the 1 1/4" 3/4" socket and breaker bar.
It undid with a long tube.
Got the disc and disc guard off and the 4 bolts holding the hub on.
Still struggling with the abs sensor, loads of releasing fluid has been on it too.
CorrectLeft the sensor in, spent hours on it, heat and releasent did nothing.
Hub is off and driveshaft out.
You can see the damage that the sensor has done to the shroud.
@tomcat59alan I presume you just cut the shroud out up to and the same width as the original hole? Sounds obvious but just checking..View attachment 247026
Couple of questions...
Gaitor is perfect but should I seperate the joint to renew the CV grease anyway?
The axle end oil seal is also mint with no leaks at all, should I replace it anyway or is it best left alone?.
Lastly, and this is probably the one I'm most worried about, are the cheap(er) abs sensors ok? Scary difference in price
