Forgive my ignorance, but if the OP's shaft is bust, isn't he going to have to fish the broken inner end out somehow?
I know nothing of the D3, I don't have one at all but just asking from the point of view of an interested reader.

This post crossed with another showing pictures, now realising my question may well not make sense, unless the shaft broke on the inner end. in the diff.!

I will just Chuck this in.
As the OP has been at both hubs, has it just popped out of the curclip , didn’t we have that recently?

J

So I can’t just buy the £92 rh drive shaft aftermarket part now , the bearing are shot at the hub obviously can’t tell if other end is shot , so to be sure the £92 part won’t just replace what’s there ?

Grab this, boots look ok. You can see where it picks up that bearing on the shaft , just before the inner joint

Take the old shaft out, stick your finger in the diff nose extension and feel the bearing for roughness, if its OK bang that new shaft in

then as I try pull away sounds like bucket of nails have to really throttle down so revs high and it clunks in and moved with all the metal sounds I pulled up in safe place and left it for recovery later on , anyone know of potential prob or is it game over for this motor , sitting at 185000 but no other issues
