my N/S rear door stay(the thing that stops it opening to much).
has got stiff over the last year(yes have lubed it up)then the other day the bit in the door coll-em
broke .
took the pin out and have pushed rod back in to door. looks like 2 bolts to replace this
but the one in the pilled looks like its built in.is this the case
j
 
Interested in this, my back doors have been creaking badly when opening & closing. At the weekend it I sprayed them with WD40 - which I know probably isn't the right thing to use (and the car stinks of it now), but at least its stopped the creaking (for only a while probably).
 
Only a moron would use WD40:p

But seriously, its great for getting stiff things going again but not a good long term fix. An aerosol of white grease is invaluable for this and a squirt every 6 months keeps things sliding nicely.

Use it on the lock barrels as well. The day your key fob battery dies in the supermarket carpark is typically also the day you realise your physical locks are jammed solid because they havent been used in years.

And in the case of the freelander, once you've freed off the lock, you realise the shaft between the lock barrel and the door lock has sheared off.
 
always use a bit of grease or oil all the spray stuff helps at first then disperses so its back to square one, I put a bit of oil on the stays and hinges every service.
