i have allways been into jap cars and i recently sold my 450bhp 300zx. i replaced it with a 1989 bob tail disco. it has full roll cage, insa turbo tyres, lift kit and loads more. im new to all the off road stuff and to be honest i havent got a clue about it. haha. my mate showed me a lane in doncaster that was amazing. aparently it was in a land rover magazing one for being near impossible to get through. but we managed it after a few hours. lol. but i want more now. anybody in the local area know of anywhere in donny that is good to go????
 
Hi from Barnsley m8, I can give you the number of a guy that buys and sells, look on the for sale section on here OR you could try Ebay but make sure to grab someone that knows what to look for :)

Ive just got up so i wont slate you. :D But this is a great advert for why the uneducated need to be educated!

Right, so first of all :welcome2: to the mad house, There will be **** taking and swearing and the likes of so i hope youve got a thick skin?! :p:rolleyes:

The other thing you should know is about this "lane my mate showed me" So Greenlaning or driving of public rights of way is a bit sensitive to tell you the truth. First things first, you cant just go driving anywhere you want to. There are places you can and cant drive and sometimes even the ones you can dive you shouldn't IE: the quote from yourself above "we managed to get through" That dosent sound like a lane that should be driven! :(

Our Lanes are slowly but surely being taken away from us because there are people out there who abuse them, now im not having a go at you here but you are obviously "uneducated" in this area. Thats fine, thats why your hear. :)

There is organisations and people out there who are trying there hardest to keep these "lanes" open. The likes of GLASS and CRAG You can find out more info there.

The best advice is to post in the greenlane association and go out with a group of people in your area who have re searched the lanes and who know its ok to be driving them.

If on the other hand you only bought your Disco for flinging mud and tearing around a field getting stuck etc etc (which is fine) then what you need is a Pay and play site.

If you do want to tear around and fling mud i hope you will keep it to the P and P sites and not on the lanes. :)

Anyway, enjoy the site, enjoy land rover ownership, and enjoy the maintenance(all land rovers need them). :D

Welcome to LZ

Don't want to sound harsh but from your post you sound like a tw@t that doesn't want to go laning you just want to play in the mud, we all do but.... Laning and off roading are two different things. It's because of people like you we lose lanes, going out buying a Landy they know f#*k all about and going out driving lanes like they are playgrounds :mad:
 
Craig you seen than on adis fb group of that lad in 90 stuck, read the comments there both on about they shouldn't have been there n boasting about where elce they have been and gotten stuck! Think ill be leaving that group as from now :mad: annoyed!

I know loads of places, but the time I've spent researching and driving to keep them open and free from feckwitted arseholes churning them up and farmers/others blocking them, means I'll tell you feckorl if all you want to do is 'get through after a few hours' ..

There are _NO_ legal lanes in Doncaster that will take hours unless there's 400 vehicles. There are only a couple of miles of lanes altogether ... five separate lanes, FIVE, 5, that's all that are legal to drive!!!

So if it's the one I think it might be, I don't read the mags, then all you need to do is to read the track properly, noting the wetter, very, very soft areas under the trees/bushes, drive the right lines, and enjoy it without churning the slippery bits into a morass ... takes me about 20 minutes, including piccie stops ... ;)

i can see that with comments coming through like this that this isent the site for me. if all you want to do is drive a lane and not get stuck then whats the point???? i like getting stuck in the mud, getting pulled out and trying again until i get through. sure sometimes it might get messy but its bloody good fun. why buy a landrover just to sit in it and fanny about. use it for what it was built for.

Might be good fun but it annoys the hell out of the rest of us. What about everyone else who uses the lanes having to get through the mess you idiots make. I own a Landy and its great fun, they were built to do a job for farmers and the like, not for idiots to destroy the countryside.

Ah well i tried! :doh:

If you want to get stuck and muddy, thats great, top banana.

But doing it on public land is not the place to do it. This is why i said go to a pay and play site.

We have enough trouble with people getting stuck on lanes.

Just so you know, it ruins it for the rest of us! it gets messy and boggy, then the council close them, then they never repair them. so people find new lanes to mess up, the circle continues.

This is why its important to keep the getting stuck to pay and play days.
