Thanks mate have been thinking about it at work and my conclusion (at the moment) is the fuel pump would have to be changed to use the other loom I have, as plugs are different and there is an extra plug for the diverter rail so loom and pump must go together surely, the diverter rail was last fitted in 06 the loom that I have fitted fits the 07 on fuel pump but has no knock sensor wiring what do you think? thanks for the diagrams will come in useful I'm looking for info all the time my type of reading good idea to go over wiring diagrams have learned to take more photos. when I used the jag heads the knock sensors were fitted hopefully this was my confusion, I shouldn't have mentioned the full moon it kicked off tonight about a dozen teens fighting just avoided a punch while breaking it up police came quite quickly full-on madness, and it wasn't even a full moon lol

Hi, come to the conclusion that this motor (09) does not have knock sensors the loom I have fitted will only fit the 07 on fuel pump and doesn't have knock sensor plugs, the other loom from a 06 fits the up to 06 pump and has knock sensor plugs is also date coded i then thought to look at the original heads (waiting to be refurbished) they don't appear to have had knock sensors fitted dirty etc my confusion was the jag heads had them fitted and when I rebuilt them I refitted them but is all good it's a learning process have learned that the looms are different and the fuel pump set up which in all honesty I hadn't as I stripped the motors a couple of months apart, more notes, marking and pics needed in the future thanks again for the diagrams differences should show up somewhere electrics not my strong point

awesome u got it sorted out mate and the bits were of some use to u

bet u can’t wait till it’s back up and running , once again massive respect my friend for the incredible job ur doing , extremely impressive and following with great interest

as a side note , once I’ve got my brakes , tyres etc done , I’ll then fit my front soft A bar , 9” spots along with D4 xenon headlights , along with the new style carling switches I’ve got , will have to replace the front wings to accept the D4 xenon’s , but that won’t be till next summer , sorry I’m waffling as per usual, lol

Thks again for sharing the progress

Thanks mate confused myself hoping to get motor ready over weekend or so, and learning all the time, thinking of putting a d4 or Crome grill on this one can't wait for those final bit's thanks again

there’s always the old saying “ I can’t remember what I just forgot and forgot what I can’t remember “ lol

plus 1 with regards to the learning curve , must confess learnt a lot when I was trying to find the turbo error , having wiring looms out , including the ECM, TCM , checking the ohms along with ensuring the sensor ohms readings were correct and belling out the complete engine loom wire by wire

did fit a chrome style grill on mine after I rebadged the bonnet , also found the carling switch fitted a treat in the overhead light cluster , mine hasn’t got a sunroof but bought a light assembly off eBay that has the sunroof switch, so utilised it for the carling spot light master switch , also managed to get hold of a genuine complete spot light wiring harness , again off eBay

then took me forever to work out and buy some security bolts for the spot lights , didn’t realise at the time but have built in DRL if required , but don’t think I’ll wore them up seeing the xenon’s also have the angle leds

like the switches as it has a surround light that will dim of a night time , can also choose which symbol u want on the switch itself

Think like everything does take a lot of time when adding bits , ensuring there fit etc etc , Hope it’s ok but here’s a few piccies for u

fingers crossed mate urs now progresses without anymore delays with parts etc

Plus forgot , also bought last year a renogy DC to DC charger , solar panel, short roof rails , display etc , so another thing I want to get round fitting, lol

Yes, confused myself simply put the jag heads back together as they came apart this made me question myself, but the upside is learning the differences I suppose. Your Landy It looks stunning, love the grill too I'm sold mate would you do a write up on doing a facelift I would be most interested, is yours black? sorry so many questions looks similar colour to mine, going to get on over next couple of days still have a couple of bits to source but nothing to hold me up too much thanks for the inspiration

Finished fuel system today. Can't find a source of the hard-line double fuel line clips the hedgehog type if anyone knows would appreciate a heads up. Also found out there is a difference in the cooling system from vin6a999999 the 09 seems to have a bypass to egr valves only difference, few bits to check tomorrow then will set down on stands and fit the box

Looking good mate , wow you’ve done some work on the engine , respect my friend

do u mean the fir tree type fuel clips, ref EXR4687 plse , sorry if there not the right ones , if not plse let me know and will have a search for u

no probs, when I do the front mod, more than likely will be next summer after getting all the wishbone, brake and tyres out the way , going to keep the D3 bumper in order for the A bar to fit seeing the D4 bumper has a different shape

many thks for the kind words , yes it’s metallic Java black , must confess put a serious amount of hours into it but after all that still my favourite landy so far in sheer comfort , tons of room , still amazed for its age in how it soaks up the miles down the motorway whilst remaining planted @70mph

body work I’m also very pleased with, pic was before I debadged it , ref the wings I’m happy they just unbolt , plus one day will replace the rear lights with D4 ones, did see some others but are silly money

done a few other things like adding an aux fuse box in the upper glove box , so making life easier to hard wire a dash cam etc , fitted a 3.5mm Aux in the centre of the dash board, think u can just see it in the picture, took me forever as I didn’t want it to stick out but to blend in

plus, boot led lights, front door Land Rover puddle lights , heated windscreen washer jets , last picture are those D4 lights , think they were around £500 a pair , alas couldn’t really validate that kind of money just for rear lights

I’m waffling again aren’t I, lol

all the best for the rest of the re build, ur doing a Stirling job mate

looks absolutely spot on mate hope mine looks as good like them in black mine are both Buckingham blue but the 09 is more metalic and looks black on a dull day. Thanks for the part number will look up and order, spent most of yesterday looking into differences in cooling system to satisfy my curiosity, back in workshop this afternoon putting it down on stands and fitting gearbox etc, I remember the first time I drove one any distance smooth as silk, since drove from south of France to Calais overnight left at 5pm arrived 10am 850miles approx. never missed a beat averaged about 26-28ish. Still can't stop looking at other D4 projects at the moment though, electrics wise when travelling we run a domestic fridge in the back via inverter fits perfect and you can still open door and the second grey trailer plug also runs the caravan fridge and charges the van battery

Hi thanks for part number I think they're the chassis clips have added a picture (half missing) only part i have been unable to source so far getting close now waiting for turbo gaskets should be last holdup was another oversight on my part

dam it, I thought I had replied, big apologises

massive credit mate and looks like it’s coming along nicely , great call ref the gearbox filter kit , personally got the mannol AG55 instead of the lifeguard ATF oil, Christ the lifeguard is expensive in comparison to many other oils that can be used

hope ur getting on ok mate and once again massive respect to u my friend

Hi gstuart and firebobby1 hi all sorry haven't posted recently had a few days off missis had a knee replacement a few weeks back so had a few extra chores dropped the motor back in last week and plan to start on it again at weekend it's also only been 4 deg here in Norfolk and I can't get workshop doors shut while fitting an engine but have just ordered padded overalls next job is to gunk the transfer box then I will start with that planning a new workshop when it warms up a bit for some reason I can't download pics at the moment I just get a box that says I don't have permission

The photo issue is something to do with the forum squirrel/rat running out of puff and having to be changed for a better model.
If you click a d paste, you can put photos on.
