Shouldn't any difference in fit really, plenty of room in the disco engine bay

Plus as they're steel not cast iron you can cut and weld them to shape :) I was looking at some when I was still running the 3.5 in the series :p
 
Yea the headers are good compared to the old cast ones, not as torquey as headmans mind you.
The down pipes are different, there a round 3 bolt flange, the older type (below D2) are like a 3 bolt still but 2 pipes next to each other for some reason.

I'm still working on my bumper so cant start any of these other jobs till its done.
I was on a roll until the welder tip needed replacing.. but wouldn't come out, so gona buy a new shroud so a new tip can go in, then I should hopefully get it mostly done tomorrow ready for paint!
I'm pre warning you.. this bumper is a BEAST!!!!
 
The early ones are twin pipe so we can have long secondaries for torque

Not really an option with cats though so they had to 4-2-1 them in the header itself instead of using the down pipe for the 2-1
 
Did another good few hours on the bumper. Got the cush tubes welded in the chassis and all pained up. Finished the boxing in on the bumper, grinded all the visible welds down, started drilling the holes to accept the 18mm bar (old 106 torsion bar) supports for the light guards.
Also cleaned up and red oxided the rear pannel which was painted in a rush befor xmas.. started to go rusty.

Hope to have the bumper pained with red oxide tomorrow ready for a coating of hammerit.

Had a bit of a travel back in time through my dads old CB kit which I never knew he had.
2x 2channel hand held CB's
4x SWR and power meters

1x 40 channel CB, which believe it or not still had working 20 year old AA's!!!! worked a treat!




1x standard 40 channel CB
 
Oh and annoyingly went out to the disco yesterday and it had a flat.. tested it with soapy water and it was coming from in between the rim amd tyre, had it pulled off the rim today along with some old tyres I got a while back on some alloys.
Going to clean the rims up and refit the tyres by hand hopefully.
 
Put all 6 AT's on the rims and the Insa back on too, with some help from Mark (krams300) and a big thanks!
swapped the wheels over ready for the trip and got the bumper on now its painted, couldn't get a decent pic front on for some reason (lighting?)

The rims are in need of a refurb, but that can wait till the weather picks up!

Finally figured out what the problem is!
So after all the faffing about it turns out its a problem with the live for the pumps, for some reason it keeps stopping.. seems like a bad connection somewhere.

It did it a bit at Tixover yesterday and as I was leaving the site it was unbearable, so I connected a direct 12v feed to the pump and it worked a treat!

Not sure what/where the cause is, 1st thing I'm going try is change out the relay, other than that Its not going to be simple to trace!
