Defenders being marked for theft !!! Look..

Leave it with me for a day, it won't. We have ran alarm wires using commercial metal cladded electrical wires.

Not joking, we had a guy who stole cars working for us after he came clean. When we installed systems he used to tell us all their tips and tricks.

He told us that people still left cars unlocked making it even easier to jack.

Knowing how landys are stolen means I also know that you will need to re-design nearly the whole of a defender in order to make the electrics secure.

You guys need to use vice grips when there is no steering wheels??? You pussies inuse my teeth.

Grrr....

As for security systems I had a high end Clifford alarm on my GTi a few years ago, some internal fuse blew for the rf receiver (can't remember exactly now). When the guy arrived from breakdown patrol it took him literally 10seconds to bypass he whole lot and get he car started.

There are alarm installers and then there are alarm installers, but the same but not the same. Most installers wont take any time or thinking to make it worth your while.

I have seen modules in the center console, tie wrapped under the CD player etc., its a joke.

You have to install the module where it either cant be seen easily but in a landy I would have that in a metal box bolted down or riveted with the connector glued in place.

As I said, leave me the landy to secure and it wont be any 10 seconds quickie to start it.

Too bad I dont have a Landy to use as an example.

Onstar will shut the vehicle off . They might get hurt from a accident. Ryder explained that long ago. onstar will also lock the doors and windows so the fookers can not get out, until the cops get them.:D works well

They can get ####ed then, I is gonna buy one :D

That being said they'll have to find a way in first and then work out where all the random switches and buttons are......

Wonder if I fit a fake starter button which sets up an electric circuit.......would that be classed as unlawful  or just funny

I have been installing Vipers over 20 years now, back then they were called DCI and they worked flawlessly.

Some models made since 5 years ago would allow you to receive a page on your phone and will send you pics as the sensors are activated. I have not purchased any within the last five years so I can just imagine how advanced they are now.

For a hundred pounds and some, it's a life saver and if you used all of its features like remote locking etc., your Landy will seem like a Limo.

Yeah I saw that, mine doesn't have central locking and I kinda cant be arsed installing it but I also like the idea too.......got the bits to make up a pneumatic door system too which could be fun :D that'd lock the doors tight if on a dead circuit

lol i remember an installer coming to fit a clifford in a nova show car that i had fitted an engine and some other bits in, it had no interior at all, the alarm installer refused to fit the alarm as there was no where to hide stuff, massive argument with his boss on the phone and a call to the editor of revs magazine and the alarm was installed, i spent most of the day making brackets to secure modules in box sections lol

Edited for accuracy :p

I remember there was a phase about 15 years ago where everyone stuffed calibra turbos into 3 door novas lol

Theyre at it again....

not mine but just seen on faceache so thought id share...

Hi Tim,

Just seen this on faceache, what I cannot understand is why would any scrote give the owner forewarning that they plan to steal their Landy.

I understand that their is probably a team recceing for the landies, but why would they put a cable tie on a landy they want to steal. They have to give their scrote bag friends an address to goto to steal it. Unless their are multiple LR's at the same place and they only want a particular one there is no need to mark the one they plan on stealing.

What am I missing.

Cheers

Im not 100% sure either tbh, but seeing as its been done a couple of times I know of, Id rather be safe than sorry (especially seeing as its 5 mins from where I live on this occasion)
Same as tagging addresses with paint/chalk/whatever, surly you just say 123 nowhere street. (tho suppose a fender sticks out a bit more)
Police recon its marking property (having spoken to a couple, not just heresay), and thats enough for me
