Defender Alarm Problems ??

Hi all,

The final bit of my landy is where the alarm is playing up. When I try and set the alarm I get two loud Honks (and the siren goes off for a second and no flashing from the indicators).

Just to check the alram functions, i note the red activation light is flashing as it should on the dashboard, and when I open a door the alram goes off as normal.

Can any of you whiz kids out there help me on why I am getting the two Honks and No indicator flashes - and what i should do [I have replaced the small brown relay behind the dash, but still this honking problem and no indicators flashing]????

Guys and Girls,

I found the problem, it was the defender's bonnet catch switch that was simply offline and not making contact. All electrics and alarms now A1 again on 'Pretty-Boy' - yippee!

Its usualy bonnet catch trigger earthing

ok here's my problem, when i arm i get indicator flashes, when i disarm i get no indicator flashes. it's then when i go to open the door i'm thinking will it or won't it go off....
Also my mates defenders alarm goes off when he's driving along and puts his lights on any ideas?

Answer to Question number 1) What does the dash led do when you press the unlock button? What year vehicle are we talking about? Does it have central locking? Is it a standard alarm?

Answer to question number 2) Does your mates landy have a standard alarm or after market alarm? Does your mates landy have a back-up sounder or just the horn? If it has both which one is it that goes off? How old is his defender? Does the alarm go off when he's not driving along and puts his lights on? Does it go off with main beam, dipped bean or just sidelights?
