The screen is divided into three areas, two are in the wipers swept area, and in the swept area the bit in front of the driver and the width of the steering wheel is called zone A, largest damage in Zone A is 10mm dia, think zone B is 40mm and zone C which is the bit of the screen the wipers dont touch can have pretty heavy damage, and so long as cracks are not edge to edge and it is secure it is a pass.

Ps good news on the gbox repair.

Many thanks for the comprehensive information regarding stone chips, I’ll do a few measurements tomorrow and see where the chip falls regarding the areas. It’s only a small chip on the screen but 10mm isn’t much to play with. It literally falls on the line where the drivers wiper sits at rest. I’ll get the tape measure out tomorrow and check - fingers crossed . Windscreens aren’t cheap eh

For your rear wiper, it would be worth taking the wireing out of the mix and just run a temp wire front to back to test the motor.
I expect your problem is the shaft running through the door is crusty with rust/old grease gone solid/general crud, use some Plus gas on it for a few days and then try again gently helping out by trying to turn by hand on the wiper arm.
I've had to strip and clean/re-grease mine twice in 12 years of ownership. Common problem.

Could always adjust the arm, so it does not sit as low so missing the chip.

I also fitted a slick shift about a year ago - I took the opportunity to remove it - I didn't like the different fell to the changes.

Glad I am not the only one who didn't like the way they felt. Seem like a good idea in theory but not so much in reality.
