I like the ones with suction better. Some of them will fail in a few weeks but for that price...
Expects lots of glare.

It would be very annoying to have the recorded image on the screen all the time. You only need the screen image for setting up purposes and maybe reversing. Also there's no dimming function for night time use.

I'd personally prefer a sat nav that includes a dash cam function, although I use an old android phone for dash cam functions myself.

The price is silly cheap though.

i looked at these - and thought that as they are designed for LHD cars the lens could possibly get in the way with the mirror angled the opposite way? In all fairness it wasnt too much thought and i never got back to it again. but something to bear in mind. I think it was a sun visor fouling issue - in my audi anyway, as the visor just clears the factory fit mirror.

Cracking idea on the ld phone - I am sure I have a couple knocking about at home - might just look into using one of those instead

If you have an old Android, then there are several good dashcam apps, which effectively turn the phone into a fully featured dashcam, including shutting it off with the ignition, loop recording and generally more functionality than a cheap or expensive dashcams. Not forgetting that most good Android phones, have better cameras than a proper dashcam. ;)

As this is a reverse facing dash cam that presumably the driver wants to be able to view, I think he'd need a USB camera - and older phones won't work with them.

There must be a catch with them being that cheap???
No, just standard bulk manufacturing of electronic components. The Chinese can manufacture stuff at a fraction of the cost of the rest of the world. This is why companies like Apple, Acer and Dell manufacture stuff in China, as cheap manufacturing, means more profits for the company. Electronics manufacturing costs have spiralled over the last few years. It's amazing that these camera/ mirrors are so cheap, even with shipping from China.

If you tried posting one of these in the UK, the 15 quid of the purchase price would be almost entirely the postage costs (Royal Mail). How the Chinese can send these things by international post and still make a profit is beyond me...

I order lots of stuff from China, mostly electronic components and circuits. It's amazing just how little some stuff costs with free shipping. The mind boggles at just how little China post must cost. The sort of stuff I order from China often couldn't be posted in the UK for the amount of money. Let alone make the items, sell them for a profit and ship them half way round the world.

had one in my face lift td4 for over a month now works pretty good ,screen is on the left side on mine. i suppose it will be sent for the country purchased from.

The State pays all postal charges, I think. If not all, then certainly most.
