does anyone have clutch problems. The clutch, master and slave were replaced about 20,000k,s ago, maybe a little less than that everything fine(as fine as it can be on a LR) but now trouble getting gears and the peddle is very low or rather the bit where you can get the gear to change is right down by the floor. Is it possible to get the clutch adjusted or is it more complicated than that. This has been the week that you don't want, trying to sort out what seems to be a common prob with the lack of power found a black plastic hose fitment with a tiny split so waiting for the part to be shipped over from UK .Thinking that would be able to use the old disco but not this week water pump went on monday,so seriously considering the T word after faults have been sorted although love both the cars too much. Any advice on the clutch would be very welcome thanks

Check that the piston of the master cylinder where it attatches to the clutch pedal hasn't shifted to the side.
You can bleed the clutch if needed there is a thread on here showing you what to do.

The clutch master cylinder has a rod/piston/ram or whatever it's called that attatches to the pedal.
on mine it had shifted all the way to the left and was nearly falling off and letting clutch fluid seep past the seal.

thanks for the info re the clutch thread for bleeding etc.Found a tutorial with pictures and pointers which is great for us blondes down at the end of Africa

if its the 1.8 or early L series look at slave bracket on gearbox, my old L series plate was rusted and started to bend, failing that new master cylinder as just gone through same thing this week

no its TD4 2001 3dr.master and slave were replaced about 20,000 k's ago.I'm going to get the clutch bled and replace the fluid.Did take out a loose fitting carpet and this has seemed to make a difference, didn't notice a thing and drove through the Overberg and over Franchhoek pass, fully loaded so will go for replacement of fluid first,it might just be that it got contaminated when the car was worked on.Good luck with yours.
