Go to CB Radios, Mobile CB Radio, CBs, Citizen Band Radios | THUNDERPOLE.co.uk
...they do good deals . Just ordered a new cb and it came with mic and cb mounts (inc. in price:D) then you need a twig, areal cable and decent areal mount- don't get a magnetic one;)

Sounds like fun. Unfortunately I would only be able to manage one day - family commitments.
Further info required:
Some off road experience so I think I should stick to the intermediate bunch - any places left?
Routes - is Sunday just the same as Saturday but going the opposite way round?
If I can only manage one day which is going to be most 'interesting'?
What is this 'Dead Mans Hill' of which you speak? Any pics/videos?
No CB so will I get bored on my own?
Anybody any experience of hand-held CB's ? Seem simpler than anything else

If you can only do one day then Saturday will be best. I will put your name down in my group. Its not intermediate but we will swap around on the day as long as we dont have too many vehicles for leaders it will be fine.

Cheap proper CB would be better than hand held. Plenty of them turn up for sale on here. I think you can just plug them into the cig lighter if you dont want complicated wiring.

Oh and will try to find something on Deadmans :D:D

And Sunday is a different route, but probably slightly less as it will work back towards West Yorkshire :D

Looking forward to this one. I love the dales :)

Nowt wrong with handheld CB's but their range is limited as they generally have a smaller antenna than a vehicle CB. Also, if you are using one within a vehicle then an external antenna is essential as the vehicle acts as a faraday cage and blocks the radio signal. The range under these circumstances is literally going to be yards!

They are very handy outside the vehicle as you can stay in touch with the group, help with spotting etc.
