D2 - three amigos

Hey guys,

I've got the dreaded 3 amigos and an engine warning light on.

All come on at start up.

Thought I'd get the wheels off and have a quick look to see if there was anything obvious. can I get the lickin wheel nuts off??!! my adaptor thingy is a little worn so I've ordered a new one and will go down to the local garage and get them to use the impact driver on getting then undone before I round them off.

Is there anyone in the Stafford/Wolverhampton area with a nano or hawkeye be willing to take a reading for me? point me in the right direction.

Before you take the wheels off, one obvious thing to check is play in the bearings, jack each wheel up in turn then grab hold of it and see if you can wobble it, hands at 12 & 6 o'clock, hands at 9 & 3 o'clock, also does it "grumble" when you spin it? Any of those symptoms and the hub should be replaced anyway. If it turns out to be that particular hub logged as a fault on the diagnostic, then win, win situation.

I had to change a front hub recently due to the sensor going bad - the bearings were fine.

I planned to do that yesterday until I dropped my bottle jack and it smashed into pieces and got oil all over the drive!!

bloody land rovers lol!

Well gents..... there still are some genuinely nice, helpful and friendly people left in the world! not the usual grabbing b&£@*%#s that you meet.

A true gent ' Wil2813 '

came to my work, scanned the diagnostics, found that there was a fault with the rear left abs sensor. cleared all error codes and even after a 20 mile journey they are no where to be seen. so touch wood it may of just been a blip.

just wanted to give Wil a big thanks and a credit to landy zone.

I should research changing the hub (if you don't already know how to do) "just in case". Not many 3A's go away and stay away!
Buy a decent trolley jack. Check out "SGS engineering", had a sale recently, not sure if it's still on. A LR owner must own a proper jack. They're off the ground more than a 737.

I am after a trolley jack for my disco also, would you go for a 3 ton or is that over kill and would a 2 ton do the job?

The advantage I can see of the 3 ton is the lift height of just over 500mm.

Looking at the SGS website, the sale is still on Trolley Jack: Car Trolley Jacks, Low Profile, Aluminium, High Lift UK.

Have to agree with Disco DJ, i'm on my second Disco, love the cars but it has spent a lot of time in the air this year, just when I needed it!

Had the 3 amigos appear on mine and due to not having the time I put it in to Moonwhizz in Ashtead, after much work and patience the fault was found to be the front n/s bearing. fun and games in changing it and glad they had the pleasure as it took a 15t
press to separate the hub from the shaft but pleased to say problem solved.
