Still wondering how a part that only connects electronically with the sensor can wear.
if you have an old hub within reach cut it in half with grinder to see how the ring is fitted inside it then if you'll still have a dillema i'll explain you the best way i can which might not be clear enough for an englishman cos i translate hungarian language to english in my mind ;)

Yes I've had similar misdiagnosis with ABS sensor. Told RHR, it was RHF hub.
Also heard of sensors not being fully seated, the air gap is crucial to correct reading so you may have found it. 🤞

I think I have hung on to the first one that went fubar, and possibly others.

When I get a mo I'll hack one in half and we can talk again. It might even be an idea to put a pic or two up so others can understand.
Tell me, do you speak French, because if you do we might be able to communicate that way? But I find your English very good anyway. I have heard that Hungarian is the most difficult language to learn. ;)

Off topic: Unfortunately i lost my skills with french after high school cos i didnt have who to speak with, i've learnt french for 6 years as the second foreign language in school, english was the first for 8 years cos in the romanian communist regime before 1989 everybody had to study two foreign languages at choice between german, french, english and russian) , at this time "je comprend mieux que je parle"... my native language is hungarian while i live in Romania with ex ucranian wife who can speak romanian or russian well not hungarian ... so i might know many languages without being expert in any of them  ... italian and spanish included

Well despite my having taught French for 34 years, I can speak no other languages apart from my own. In France we are only 2 hours from Spain so Spanish would be really useful. Unlike most language teachers I didn't study it beyond 15, I did sciences and Maths which you will find hard to believe, and even learned how to programme in Fortran. But although I love maths and especially the sciences I am really bad at them as I am not naturally talented in them. But I left all that behind eventually studying a modular degree where I fell into French, which apparently I did have a talent for. So I wish I spoke German, Spanish and Italian, but I don't . We Brits are really lazy when it comes to languages, too many other people around the world speak it. In fact back a couple of centuries being able to speak a few languages was a sign of an educated person, now, not so much. You don't even have to have another language to get into university, which was the case when I applied.
So I take my hat of to you, or as we say "chapeau". ;)
