Cree vs Halo Vs Predator

Yes, there are LOADS of threads about LED light bars - all saying the same thing!

My question is if anybody has any thoughts on the comparison between the 'main brands' (what i have read to be the main brands that is!).

I am looking for a 20" light bar to replace my two inner lights. I believe my outer Hallo lights are 'scatter lights' but i cannot find info on them to confirm. for the inner lights, the reflectors are rusted to bits and fell apart in my hands while i tried to change the bulb, so looking for a light bar to replace them. I think it should be a 'focused' beam to be of most use (two middle ones are currently on a separate switch), so if i am correct in what i have read, and LED bar should be a good choice.

Cree to best of my knowledge do not make LED light bars. Halo and Predator are brand names used by some retailers in the UK.

Cree are a well known manufacturer of the actual LEDs. They make literally thousands of different LEDs, so saying a light bar has Cree LEDs does not tell you anything about the actual LED. You would need the FULL cree product number to know what LED is fitted. Under any short form Cree product number there can be 10 different bins or grades of that short form product number. The bin or grade of the LED is dependent on such factors as colour temperature and expected light output. Guess what happens to the price of the different grades??

Follow his links.... You cant get the CREE product number from the bars on sale.

Out of all those bars you listed, they all 'appear' to give out the same light power (Lumens and wattage) so I'd go for the cheapest.

Mind, if I were that bothered, I'd go to a proper shop and ask to see them, and take along a photographer friend with a light meter. Even then, you won't know what the spread of light is and whether it works for you, so it's mostly suck it and see. You'll be very unlikely to get a definitive 'this is best' answer, 'cos in the right situation, each one could be better than another ...

Cree do not make light bars. They make LEDs, which seem to get marketed as a 'brand' for other things, including LED torches. Which is something else Cree also don't make. And there is no saying a "Cree" branded lightbar will actually contain Cree LEDs in it.

Oh, my small ones, 72W each, were £39 ish for the pair, from ebay, and are ace ..
