After having to sit in traffic the other day with the heating on Full as I could see the Temp. Gauge moving, I pulled over to find a small hairline crack in the Rad.(see attachment).

After a top up of water (About 2L) the temperature was fine all the way home, was only about 1.5 miles from the house.

I was looking at this Radiator " Radiator P38 2.5TD (Manual & Auto) PCC108460 PCC108470 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order. "

Which states it fits both Auto & Manual p38's.

But the difference between this radiator and the one I currently have are the two pipe connectors on the bottom.

Does anyone know if I would be able to cap these off? or leave them un-connected without any problems arrising?

My P38 is a 2.5 Auto 1997.

Thanks!

Those two pipes i believe are for the manual gearbox oil cooler which is built into the rad.....

I dont think the manual and auto rads are interchangable, but i could be wrong...others will know for sure....

i have just replaced mine with the same radiator from island 4x4, and i left the connections on the bottom of the rad blanked off with the plastic covers that it came with, iv'e had no problems with mine, when i spoke to them before i purchased it i had the same concerns, but they advised me that there would be no problems, either with fitment or operation and they where spot on

Thanks for confirming this, will order one and put it in over the weekend.

Out with the Old... In With the New...

Took a few pictures along the way so will do a write-up later to help anyone else wanting to replace them.

EDIT:
Thanks to Datatek & Luckymark for confirming the non OEM Radiator would be fine.

I hope you checked for the baffle in the header before fitting it, there are a few about where it's missing. If the RAD is in, check thet it gets hot all over before venturing too far.

someone should make a v8 style rad for the diesel ie..feeds at the top and comes out the bottom then an external pipe runs back up to were the standerd diesel pipe is
my rad is due for replacement so might even look into repipeing mine to take one

Temperature is all good, Took it for a run this morning 10 miles ish, Good pressure in the system now unlike before! and still full of water :D
