Classic temp guage clocks sender or head

The fuel and temp gauges will get their power feed via a small metal box about half the size of a box of matches. This stabiliser reduces the voltage to power the gauges and also helps to buffer and slow the movement of the gauge needles. If you have the wrong one fitted, both of your gauges can over or under read. The stabiliser is usually mounted somewhere behind the main instrument cluster.

The saga still continues, I have checked wiring had dash out checked the rubbish ribbon on the back of the dash and voltage stabiliser Seems to work as it should , I have replaced the temp sensor , thermostat and even the rad as that looked gunky , been for a drive and still goes over the 3/4s mark , stopped lifted the bonnet and the rad core is stone cold but both top and bottom hoses are hot , as soon as I stopped the engine within about 30 seconds the core begins to get hot , filled the system with the bleeds off so there is no air in the system , and doesn't blow any out under pressure, am I missing something stupid?

Do you have pics of the rad?
Do you know which number you ordered?

Sounds as if rad is doing something strange, but will heat sink when stopped, don’t know why.

It was an alloy one off of eBay, just listed as 300tdi discovery, fitment was the same and has a baffle plate between the top and bottom so can't figure it out

If the baffle you are talking about is in the top header like the P38, check that it is actually there. The symptoms are just like a P38 diesel with the baffle missing or failed.

I know what you meant, but I don’t know which why the OP flows which was why I asked;).

I can never get mine all herded in 1 place for a pic ;).

Or top to bottom on 1 side?
I don't know the rad which was why I asked for a pic.

J
It's top and bottom both on the same side , and oil cooler pipes on the other
