The only wading plug on an auto is on the timing cover; the gearbox is sealed so I don't think it would be that.

Also I didn't have a wading plug in, and mine is fine. I did much more and deeper water too!

much more? 1 puddle cos i wasnt firing on all pots lol

Yes, but it was quite a deep one. Anyway the point still stands - as did my Disco in the middle of the water

I put my videos on YouTube - really easy - but anywhere you upload them would be OK if you post a link here.

Having seen that video I now know why Paul kept telling me to go faster!! It looks really slow from the outside!!

Box is fecked been quoted £1200-£1300 for recon box and new oil cooler all fitted complete, and poss secondhand box and new cooler fitted complete for £550-£600 :(

Sh1t mate, not good, how long you had it? Any chance of taking it back and getting your money back?

Might be an idea to get a cheap ebay motor that's rusted and use it as a donor ...

Did the garage say what the actual problem with the gearbox was? It might not be economically viable for a garage to mend it, but the knowledge on here is pretty good and someone might be able to help you out with it.
