The vehicle, quite clearly, is dodgy. Whether it was done for tax avoidance reasons, or to disguise a stolen vehicle - I'd say tax avoidance. If you were to ring a vehicle, it would be best to use the identity of one as similar as possible, not 30 years apart! Even the average Joe Public would probably recognise it as not a 1965 land rover, given the large age gap; so a copper will have a pretty good idea and justification to stop it and sniff around etc.

The clearest evidence, unfortunately, is not accessible to us - to look at the location of the Defender chassis number to see if its present, therefore the vehicle has 2 different chassis numbers; or if its been ground off etc.

Whatever the reason it would be down to the police and the courts to decide whether someone i guilty of an offence, not a bunch of semi literate web mongs who thinks it's ok to send threatening text messages to a woman.
