I know what you're saying, but in the back of my mind I can't help thinking that nothappy is maybe an innocent victim here. Its plain to me that its a LR 90, with bugger all 1965 parts, except the chassis number plate and identity which has been transferred. I doubt 'nothappy' did it, but the previous (possibly several transactions ago) did. So I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that she's an innocent victim in all this, and that her defensive attitude is a reaction to the nature of some of the posts here, rather than a sympton of guilt.

The vehicle, quite clearly, is dodgy. Whether it was done for tax avoidance reasons, or to disguise a stolen vehicle - I'd say tax avoidance. If you were to ring a vehicle, it would be best to use the identity of one as similar as possible, not 30 years apart! Even the average Joe Public would probably recognise it as not a 1965 land rover, given the large age gap; so a copper will have a pretty good idea and justification to stop it and sniff around etc.

The clearest evidence, unfortunately, is not accessible to us - to look at the location of the Defender chassis number to see if its present, therefore the vehicle has 2 different chassis numbers; or if its been ground off etc.

'She' has been evasive and defensive and has joined this forum for no other reason than to defend a indefensible corner. I don't frankly care if 'she' is a victim, attempting to flog a dodgy motor, being told it's as bent as a nine bob note then joining LZ to have a moan up declares open season for a good kicking on an open forum.

A simple "**** me, I've been done up like a kipper. I'll call the peelers and let them sort it (and possibly lose my motor/investment into the bargain)" would have earned the undying respect of all. Have another read of Unclappy's posts.

If it can be offloaded to another 'innocent' with minimal loss of lucre, I'll bet you pound to a pinch of **** it will be.

To solve this, in the morning im ringing local police station. got the reg and rotherham is round corner frum me. ill report it as a suspicious vehicle. Try and stop me!!

Sounds sensible. nothappy called the police herself, (see page 10), they didn't seem interested then. Unsure if they were given all the facts though - and obviously they didn't see the motor.

Making them no better than the person they bought it from.

The ****wits sending threatening text messages to someone they don't know, who may well be an innocent party.

There are a number of reasons why this vehicle has a tax exempt reg number, most of which do not involve it being a stolen ringer. in fact commons sense would suggest that any thief with half a brain wanting to ring a stolen vehicle would use an age related plate, but even if it is stolen, the person involved may well have bought it in good faith being ignorant about such things and could be a victim in all this as well. Whatever the reason it would be down to the police and the courts to decide whether someone i guilty of an offence, not a bunch of semi literate web mongs who thinks it's ok to send threatening text messages to a woman.

Aahhh go stick ya head up a cows arse.. ya poncy ****wit.

i can tip a nod to a guy i know in the SVS in sheffield, him and his friends would have the landy back to its component parts in no time..seen it done before and it aint nice..lol
