Nothappy has stated that due to people texting and pretending to be police etc she isn't very trusting of us or anyone else which I can understand.

On the other side of the coin as a person that's had 2 landys nicked and umpteen attempts on the current one I can see why some members of the forum are sceptical too.

i agree. were also here to help other landrover owners. she didnt say it was anybody on this forum pretending to be a policeman though or obtaing there address

How would she know if it were or were not someone from here???? Impossible to tell!!!!

If the eBay advert has now gone, then its only had limited exposure there. It probably has more exposure (views) here now. So there's a strong chance its someone here. It could be someone not even registered on the forum, who's got a random grudge and decides to do it. Or a similar person who looked at the eBay ad.

All fooking thing sounded fishy as fook to me.. How can anyone be so stoopid that they don't know the difference between a 20 year old and a 50 year old car... Ok so I know 90/110's & defenders aren't exactly paragons of modern design but even so. FFS get A GRIP PEEPS. and did she ever answer the leaf spring/ coil spring questions??

Sounded to me like some prat got caught trying to pull a fast one and then back scuttled like fook when they got caught out..

I don't care, it's no excuse for harassing someone.

my 90 was taken back in january and 1 atempted before then. so i am on the warpath to fight any illegal doings involving landys. ones like that 1 on ebay just annoy the **** out of me. either there innocent and dont know what they have or they do and want rid to someone else, thats what winds me up when they try and make there problems somebody else's. Also i came to this forum to show and share my love for landys like everybody on here. Im suprised how many people who own them are bent as ****. Im only 23 and have grown up around landys and have always thought it was a tight honnest community.

Yes it is. They're ****wits and if they dun't get 'harassed' some other poor eeyjut further down the line gets 'inadvertantly' (hmmmm?) ****ed over.

The premise is exactly the same as 'Rogue Traders' et al. If it's good enough for the teevee, s'good enough fer me.

Mob rule, dunt'cha jest laaaaarve it. :D

Who's wrong?

Its a popular saying, which can be applied here. I don't judge anyone on scant facts, so I can't say who's wrong or right on the above evidence; but others have clearly decided there's some "wrongness" and leapt to conclusions!

Get over yourself. Some dumb ****er is obviously selling a bent motor. They've been told and have taken exception to the obvious.

Has this gone outside of this forum? I certainly haven't sent a text or called anyone. If anyone has, from this forum, it's a decision they have made as an individual not as the collective voice of an entirely disparate group of individuals.

However, as a disparate group of individuals we have discussed it on a vaccuous internet forum which has as much real collective clout as a mollusc. The mob has decided that they're cu'nts & I for one agree.

Regards,
Quentin.

I dun't like it when ya talk funny. It's scary. Cu'nt ya just ov sed fook orf ya twot? Thas much betterer and not arf as scarier.

I know what you're saying, but in the back of my mind I can't help thinking that nothappy is maybe an innocent victim here. Its plain to me that its a LR 90, with bugger all 1965 parts, except the chassis number plate and identity which has been transferred. I doubt 'nothappy' did it, but the previous (possibly several transactions ago) did. So I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that she's an innocent victim in all this, and that her defensive attitude is a reaction to the nature of some of the posts here, rather than a sympton of guilt.

The vehicle, quite clearly, is dodgy. Whether it was done for tax avoidance reasons, or to disguise a stolen vehicle - I'd say tax avoidance. If you were to ring a vehicle, it would be best to use the identity of one as similar as possible, not 30 years apart! Even the average Joe Public would probably recognise it as not a 1965 land rover, given the large age gap; so a copper will have a pretty good idea and justification to stop it and sniff around etc.

The clearest evidence, unfortunately, is not accessible to us - to look at the location of the Defender chassis number to see if its present, therefore the vehicle has 2 different chassis numbers; or if its been ground off etc.

Who's wrong?

The ****wits sending threatening text messages to someone they don't know, who may well be an innocent party.

There are a number of reasons why this vehicle has a tax exempt reg number, most of which do not involve it being a stolen ringer. in fact commons sense would suggest that any thief with half a brain wanting to ring a stolen vehicle would use an age related plate, but even if it is stolen, the person involved may well have bought it in good faith being ignorant about such things and could be a victim in all this as well. Whatever the reason it would be down to the police and the courts to decide whether someone i guilty of an offence, not a bunch of semi literate web mongs who thinks it's ok to send threatening text messages to a woman.
