chassis waxoyled

Thinking of getting my 110 chassis waxoyled in a few months time, can anyone tell me how much this usually costs and if any one knows of any where in the central belt of scotland that does it. I live by Loch Lomond.

What does this process involve, how long does it last for and what exactly is it that they use and is it worth it etc etc...

I guess if you ask them to waxoyl it there going to use waxoyl!

there are a few schools of thought on the best way of protecting from corosion. Waxoly being one of them, and although many consider it not to be the best some do. Mine is painted with smooth hamorite paint and then covered in oil. I block up a breathe pipe when I need to change the oil and go for a drive the best solution by far is galvanising but this is best done to a fresh new frame, so is not an option unless you want to do a rebuild.

The main issue with waxoyl is that it creates a 'jacket' under the landy which can then fill up with water between it and the metal work. I'm sure lots of people on here are going to have different opinions to mine, so it's realy up to you.

Paint on the other hand( as long as you take the tub off and do the tops of the metal work should last a few years, but it's realy upto you and what you think is best.

Do it yersel'! Give it a really guid clean wi' a pressure washer and inspect for any rust. Treat rust or cut it out if a bit gone and weld in new metal.
When ah did mine, ah rubbed the chassis back a bit, sprayed on some zinc rich primer, painted it and then waxoyled it....
