Hey guys
My dads 2001 vogue has coils fitted, but, all the EAS gubbins IS still in place, I'm just about to rebuild pump and block for him as no doubt there's going to be issues and for the price of bits these days it just makes sense.. he's bought 4 new dunlops and fixings..question is, they also replaced the shocks when they did the springs, (he's still got old air springs and shocks) it's sitting around normal ride height with coils so I'm wondering if we can just swap coils only or are the shocks different too on the coil kits!??
TIA

Cannot see any reason you would change the shocks when fitting coils.

Whatever shocks are on it won't affect ride height whatever any fool may utter, it may be they were 'matched' to the springs but tbh they will probably work fine if they are not gubbed.
Leave them be, get back on air and see how it all feels, if it feels sh!t then you know what needs changed.
Bon chance.

Whatever the limit of current shox are, thatsyerlot.
Can't imagine that 2 different shox are going to deviate much,.
450mm is alway 450mm unless you want to call it 1.5 ft.

Sorry for late reply!
Been away couple of days in poor signal area...
Putting them on this week, I just wondered myself why they had changed all 4 shocks too as old units are not leaking etc obviously seems they just purchased a pricey full coil kit instead of paying a few pennies to repair the air!
Cheers all

Shocks will need checking if put back on air. Front shocks have a longer stroke than rear shocks. Some may fit front shocks all round when fitting coils to get more rear articulation if car has been used off road. Front shocks CANNOT be fitted to rear when on air. Or the bags can deform and flip off the end caps.

if it has 2 inch lift shock fitted when changed to coils you will have the same problem as wammers described also the rear bags could blow out if going over somthing similar to a speed hump and rear wheels leave the ground. or put up on a hoist that leaves the wheels to hang

And allow the height sensors to go beyond their normal travel if hung. ;)

Thanks again, Will check shocks as suggested..
It's sitting around normal ride height..
Not been off road, was previously used as an ambulance somewhere..
It's seem like it's been well looked after apart from on coils..
