I know it's far from technical but I just don't know the answer and don't want to cause more trouble with my cd system. I have a 2001 30thAnnaversay and my cd has played up a bit over the last 2-3 months. The shuttle got stuck in the cd player for about 3 weeks, finally came out last week. I noticed a chip/crack on the cartridge itself. I did try to load it before I noticed the damage, it loads OK but when it checks the cartridge it keeps stopping. I ordered another which looks new, the question is my old cartridge when you load cds in it each drawer slides out and stops so you can load a new cd into it. The new one I ordered when I go to load a cd in the drawer the cd sits in comes out all the way from the cartridge itself. Is this faulty or are some just like that. I don't want to put it in my cd system only for it to get stuck completely. As I said very basic question but don't know and would rather ask than have troubled with my system. Thanks for any advice..

I too have had some trouble with the CD changer sticking but I don't think it is the cartridge. I've taken the changer out, taken the cover off, and carefully lubricated the mechanism. Obviously being sure that you don't get oil or grease on anywhere near the CD holder or play area. This is best done by having it plugged in so you can see how it works when loading discs. Also when loading the cartridge - after putting all the CDs in, look and make sure they are all sitting in properly. Squeeze the whole thing top and bottom so that you can't see any of the edges of the discs.
This to me is an essential piece of equipment that must work correctly!
Good luck
