As per topic, I am sure I read somewhere that this can be done using diagnostic equipment. I have had huge problems getting the car started, but I thnk we have narrowed it down to the alarm/immobiliser. If it is, this is the second time it has left me stranded:mad: , so I would rather disable it altogether and fit an after market alarm.

The only way I know this can be done is by fitting a brand new engine ECU and when programming, you get to a screen that states if its a secure or non secure ECU, select non secure and the immobiliser will be "turned off".

Once "secure" has been selected and the ECU is programmed, there's no going back.

Yes it can provided that the BECM is in an "Unlocked" state.
For obvious resons I am not going to elaborate here but if you P.M. me I will advise you further.
Disabling completely would invalidate your Insurance in the event of a theft claim unless you had a comparable class of alarm fitted.

Finally, we have got the thing running! I felt that I should report back given all of the useful tips I have received from this forum…

It turned that the BECM had gone out of synch with ECM. It took Vogue Autos 10 minutes to connect their Autologic system to the car and reset the codes…job done. In the end, that aspect of it only cost £50. It just surprises me that the other ‘Range Rover’ specialist that it went to could not figure out the problem. They though it was the wiring harness, the lift pump and then were about to take off the injector pump for testing…

at least you reported back .....(it helps others) and glad you got it going ant not too much cost!!

Dopey,

It cost me £150 getting the car towed from garage to garage, all for a £50 fix! Your help is particularly appreciated.

All the best.

Glad you got it sorted. BECM's can become corrupt-you were lucky. Sometimes they can be reset, sometimes not-in which case it's £700 fitted for a new one.
As I said in my previous mail they can be programmed to disable the immobilise function and it's little known. If you want details send me a Private Mail.
